One of the nicer stops along Hines Drive, sometimes it's a little crowded and there is only 1 trail nearby that I've found, but the water is lovely, there is a restroom and a pier (usually, it seems to be moved at the moment) and sometimes there are canoe rentals. Lots of people fish along the water. I have excellent luck photographing geese, swans, turtles, wild birds, mantids etc. Right now there are dozens of goslings, and you can get surprisingly close before they toddle off or mama starts...
Read moreI have picnicked, dock fished and kayaked this lake for over 30 years. The location makes it easy for a quick trip to drop in my kayak, enjoy the turtles on the logs, the blue heron and white egrets on the trees and sand bars. The boat launch needs to be widened for poor backers like me. I usually just pull my kayak up and down the hill. Winter's over, & Dad's legs are causing him big issues right now (at 94 in just 2 weeks!), so I thought it would be a super great idea if I handed Dad the keys to my car and we took off for a 2-mile trek down Hines Drive with Dad at the helm!
