My father Mark Nelson and I were the featured exhibit here at the Illinois State Museum. The exibit was titled art made in and around the Illinois and Michigan Canal. Back in the 1990's the canal was dredged to deepen the I&M and they put all the mud on the side of the canal. I never thought that collecting bottles with my dad would be displayed in a State Museum! We had the time of our lifes finding them. It was a daily treasure hunt i will never forget. I’m interesting in seeing the fine arts exhibit that will be replacing this one in a...

It’s a beautiful building on the IM canal that should be and could be used more by residents. So disappointed and a lost opportunity for the museum. So many more people would be able to appreciate the art. The director seemed disappointed also and confused on why it was changed to no private events. Please reach out if it...
