It is my first time to visit the store and I had the worst experience ever. I went to the second floor to look for camping goods and was roaming around for 30 minutes and could not find anybody to help me with my inquiries. I saw an old lady who also had the same bad experience. She could not believe how there was no one around to help her. I finally got some help and the first staff did not have any idea what I am talking about. Everything is a big waiting game on this store and the whole waiting game and being passed from one staff to another just wasted my time. I ended up spending nearly 90 USD in this store. However, due to the long wait of getting help my pocket Wi-Fi run out of battery. I could not access my Uber app because I need Wi-Fi. I went inside the store and talked to the arrogant, inhumane and extremely unhelpful assistant manager named JOE who is Hispanic looking. He refuse to listen to my bad experiences on the store nor did he help me with my Wi-Fi issues. I asked if I could use his hot spot for a few seconds so I can just get an UBER. He refuse to help. I explain that I am a tourist and it is my first time to go to their store and just spent nearly 90USD and I was asking him to be humane enough to help me up so I can call an UBER to get back to my hotel. He arrogantly refuse many times despite me begging for assistance. He told me that it is his right to refuse to help. I was shocked if his inhumane approach on dealing with customer issues. When I asked him for the manager, he said the manager named John is not around and he is the one in charge. To sum it up, this. store is not worth spending your time and money. They have poor poor customer service. I ended up going to the restaurant next door who helped me by sharing her hotspot for a few seconds. I told them my bad experience with the store. They showed a lot of sympathy and was helpful even though I did not even eat at their restaurant. I also shared my bad experience with the UBER driver who told me that the store never have a good reputation due to it being a ripped off and poor customer service. This is one painful lesson I learned. I will never ever go to this store and I hope other people won’t ever have to endure the same horrific experience that I had suffered by making the simple mistake of coming here in the...
Read moreI visited the Dick’s Sporting Goods store in Lombard, IL, 2/19/25 to return an online purchase. I never write reviews—but my experience with the manager, Jody, was so shockingly rude and disrespectful that I felt compelled to share.
When I returned my item, the cashier mistakenly put my refund on a Dick’s gift card instead of back onto my original payment method, a credit card. I immediately told him this was not what I wanted, as I rarely shop at Dick’s and preferred my money back. The cashier was very apologetic and spent 30 minutes trying to correct the error, trying on several different registers? And calling their customer service on the phone to see if they could assist, but was unable to do so.
At that point, I asked for a manager, assuming this would be a simple fix. Unfortunately, Jody, the manager, was incredibly dismissive, curt, and outright rude. Rather than offering any assistance, no apology for the error, no validation of a mistake, he coldly told me there was “no way” to fix the issue and sarcastically added that I could “surely find something to buy here.” He knew it was an error on their part-but never showed an ounce of understanding of the situation- said a few more dismissive things to me then walked away, refusing to help further.
Not only was this an error on Dick’s part, but the complete lack of customer service from Jody was appalling. Even other employees seemed uncomfortable with how he treated me. A good manager should work to resolve issues, not dismiss customers. And now, because of their mistake and refusal to help I am out $100.
Because of this experience, I will never shop at Dick’s again.
This is a follow-up to my last Trip to Dicks when Jody the manager was so rude! And no one could help me have my return back to my original form of payment. So, I returned a week later to see if I could get any assistance from a manager that would be willing to help. Most fortunately, Miguel, the manager today, greeted me at the door, and proceeded to take the gift card balance and return it to my credit card in a very kind and professional way. He apologized for the last interaction I had had and could not have been more helpful! Thank you Miguel!! For your time...
Read moreHere is why dick’s gets one star from me: worst customer service experience. Here is the story: I received soccer shin guards as a gift for my birthday. They were too small so I decided to exchange them for a larger size. However, before going there I got injured and I was limping pretty bad. I made inside of the store and talked to a rep who told me to just get the larger size and bring it back. “Where is it?” I asked. “Probably in the back corner somewhere.” greaatttt! So I limped again towards the back corner somewhere and passed another rep who asked me how was my day and I replied that I have been better. She could see I was limping. Did she offer to help? No. I finally walk to the back and I see another rep and I ask where I can find those and he tells me in the second aisle somewhere. Did he offer to help? No. So I find the bigger size and walk back to the front and of course there is a huge line and another rep sees me and tells me if this is a return I need to get in line. Again, she can see I'm limping. Fast forward ten to fifteen minutes later and I get to the cashier. I tell her this was a gift and I don't have the receipt but I just needed the bigger size. She asks for a phone number and I try a couple but neither work. So she asks to see an id which I was going to show her on my phone but she said she needs to see it so she can scan it. She insists. So I limp my way back to the car and get my wallet then back to the store. Wait again for her to finish with another customer and then she scans my id and then finally hands me the shin guards. I am not a big fan of things like Amazon or similar but I can understand why big stores are closing. Your service is abysmal and your prices are high. The fact that not one person offered to help tells me that customer service is not your...
