My comment is in reference to the laser hair removal. It is indeed laser and not light therapy, which in my initial research, seemed like the better option. In hindsight, it seems like there are a lot of similarities and light therapy may have been just as good, and a lot cheaper. I'll start off by saying the staff are friendly and the facility is very nice. I'm just disappointed in the degree of hair removal I have had for $1100 over 6 sessions. It has definitely had an impact, but the sessions feel rushed and I think if more detailed time was spent, I would be further along at this point. It's hard to critique in the moment because it's not exactly comfortable, making it hard to pay attention to which areas have been covered. From my reading, it seems like laser therapy sessions are usually longer because the laser is more exact in it's target, but because of its effectiveness, it should take less sessions. The impression I was given by the technician was that 5 should do just about everything with maybe a couple touch up sessions afterwards. However, I still have significant patches of growth that seem to be getting missed. I have dark hair and light skin, so that shouldn't be the issue with the laser. If you decide to proceed with them, make sure to advocate for more detail and try to pay attention to the areas...
Read moreI spent about a year-and-a-half researching what I discovered was a melasma problem (dark patches on my face, mostly forehead, around my eyes and upper lip). I went to four different dermatologists in the Denver area and, while I learned a lot from each of them, I didn't get any results. Some said I should try microneedling. Some said chemical peels (I tried that twice but it didn't help). Finally, one of the dermatologist offices told me to contact Dr. Ort at the Dermatology & Laser Institute. Dr. Ort keeps up-to-date on dermatology treatments and though he does laser treatments, he knows that for someone of my skin tone (olive tone, Asian and Hispanic), laser doesn't work. He had read about research on using an oral prescription medication. I started taking the Rx last summer and it has REALLY made a GREAT difference in fading my melasma without laser, chemical peels or microneedling. And the staff at the Dermatology & Laser Institute is FANTASTIC. Contacting them for follow ups is a pleasure. Thank you Dr. Ort and staff for your assistance! I will say it's worth doing the research when it comes to...
Read moreDr. Ort will be my dermatologist for as long as he is practicing. I'm so grateful I found this office and to receive care from them. Every staff member I've talked to has been great, scheduling is painless and actually very quick if you have some flexibility, the cost of visits is very reasonable, and the care given at this facility is top notch.
I was receiving laser treatments for a pretty large wart infestation on my foot for well over a year from another dermatologist. The laser obviously wasn't working. In my first visit Dr. Ort explained a dozen different treatment options we could try. Today was my third visit and the warts are almost entirely gone. 3 visits in 3 months and I have seen more progress with Dr. Ort than over a year and more than 2 dozen treatments at another office.
I am eternally grateful to Dr. Ort and his staff. The level of professionalism, attention, and care given is...
