🔍 Woke up early, and LA Olympics are actually happening here!

I worked here in the late 1970s as an Artist in Residence and I painted the water surface in front of the broadcasting booth (now LBLifeguard Museum) for nearly a year, turning it into a tile mural. A couple of times a year we 🏃 in the area, has special memories for me as an artist. We ran through on 5 January and I had the chance to photograph the very same square of rock and water I had painted daily 40 years ago. Kelp has replaced the mussels that lined the channel then.

Attended the annual Land Meets Sea Adaptive Sports Festival hosted by the Casa Colina Rehabilitation Hospital and the Triumph Foundation. Adaptive water skiing, jet skiing, canoeing, kayaking, rowing, basketball, hockey, rock wall climbing, rugby, and more. Awesome event! The park is very accessible, including the parking and restrooms. The grounds and water were clean, and reasonably kept. Looking forward to next year!

Love coming to this venue for rowing. It’s convenient, beautiful, the public restrooms are clean and orderly. I look forward to it all the time. It’s by far the best rowing venue we attend, in my book.

My only downside is something they can’t control, and that’s the local homeowners along the park are just miserable during event weekends. They picked a location that hosts rowing events with hundreds of people, and that’s the trade off, but I have never not dealt with a home owner yelling at traffic as we all wait to enter gates as instructed by the venue.

The dogs that come visit the park with their owners are the best part aside from location. It’s like a cherry on the cake. Can’t wait to come back...

Yesterday, our search for the outdoor led us to the historic Marina Stadium, a mere 18 miles from home. It hosted two Olympic rowing competitions, is site of other water-based events and professional power boat races. Adjacent to it is a 5.2 mile one-of-a-kind trail loop that is unique in many ways. The loop walk will take you thru winding paved trail; the ocean on one side and lines of beautiful residences which are art & architectural marvels on the other.

So, do go out and give yourself and your family...

Was nice walk with the puppies, currently under construction, there was food vendors farmers market going on, vendors come time to pack up they trash the place cooking gloves, plates on floor and overfilling city cans, common sense pick up and take your own trash, also dumping there ice chest water and used detergent water from washing the portable cooking appliances dumping it into the rocks going into the ocean. Other then that beautiful place if it can prevent from becoming...
