It's taken me over a year to write this review because I just didn't know what to say about my experience with McCartys. They were extremely helpful when my husband went in to pick out an engagement ring. When he wasn't seeing anything I'd love they even helped him design a custom ring with my grandmother's diamond as the center stone. The ring they made me was a beautiful concept, but executed poorly. After he proposed to me I had to awkwardly mention that the band didn't meet up with the center stone. There was literally a space where the metal didn't connect. You don't know how awkward it is to tell your new fiance that the ring he just gave you has a flaw. But I had to mention it because I was worried the ring would break. When I brought it back to McCartys they happily took it to fix it but mentioned they had rushed to get it done. This was puzzling because my husband never asked them to rush. When I got my ring back the second time the band connected correctly but the center stone was off center and very wonky. Worried I was being too critical, I asked others for their opinion and everyone could see it. I asked McCartys to fix this. This is now several months that I'm without my ring and newly engaged. So when people in my life are asking me to see my engagement ring I had to lie and say it was being resized. Because I was moving I asked them to send it to my new address and they happily agreed. But I was super anxious about getting back another imperfect ring long distance. When it finally arrived it was completely different. In order to fix the wonky center stone they added a bunch of prongs around the smaller stones. Changing the look entirely. They also raised the center stone a quarter inch up above the rest of the ring when it used to sit flat. I couldn't bring myself to call McCartys again and instead emailed them. They called saying they would fix it. But I had to have my husband talk to them and explain we just weren't willing to try again. They had messed it up 3 times and it just feels horrible to love the concept of the ring and not the way they made it. Now we are married and I have to find a local jeweler to...

Very nice people. BUT do not sell your gold or silver here. I came and then went elsewhere on same day and got 3x what they offered me. In fairness they don't melt it down but that's a huge profit for taking it to someone else. You can do that too. There are plenty of places close by that will pay far more than $14 per gram when the spot price is far more. I don't expect full spot but that profit is too huge. I drove a short distance and got 75 percent of spot. So I got $33 per gram.

I should also mention that the people testing here are inexperienced. They said several of my pieces were only 10 kt when they were 14kt. They also said a thick broken necklace was not silver but was later tested to in fact be silver.

While the people are nice here and do good repairs you should definitely go elsewhere to sell your gold and silver. Otherwise just donate...

We worked with M.D to recreate my antique 1940s retro era .15 ct ring for my engagement ring. He perfectly understood my sentimental attachment and was able to recreate the ring without me leaving it with them and having to cast it.
