Royal Inn Motel Long Beach — Attraction in Long Beach

Use to live in the area, so whenever I come back to visit, sometimes I'll stay here. No frills, no thrills straightforward basic motel. Ignore all the scaremongering in the other comments about the area. As long as you mind your business, you'll be fine. I've never had a problem. As far as grading the motel, here are the pros:

1.) Relatively cheap at $95 per night with a $20 cash security deposit, which they don't hassle you about handing back at your stay's end.

2.) Heaters, AC, refrigerators, TVs all in working order.

3.) You're in close proximity to downtown Long Beach, if you happen to be in town for an event, conference, concert. You can easily take the bus or ride a bike nearby to downtown/Junipero beach on 2nd Street.

4.) Plenty of eateries and supermarkets within a short drive.

5.) Have never seen a roach or bedbug at this place in my stays.

6.) Snack, soda vending and ice machines always in working order, and supplied.

Cons:

1.) They use to charge $85 per night. Not sure why they raised the price.

2.) The towels and bed linen is old, so don't expect 5-star quality there.

3.) Some of the single occupancy bathrooms are smaller than others, so if you need a little space, I'd suggest asking to see the room before you pay...

It’s a motel. Pros: -Cheap -Hot water and good pressure -vending machines -Zero bugs or roaches -Stairs seemed safe and sturdy to me -friendly and reasonable -small cash deposit -neighborhood is not dangerous walked around a lot and never felt unsafe -Didn’t see any police activity or dangerous people, no “gunshots” -guests were all pretty decent for a motel -good parking -room keys don’t stop working -cleaning lady is not obtrusive -no random insane rules

Cons: -Cheap kinda old towels -Walls are incredibly paper thin -Doors don’t have weather stripping and it’s noisy outside sometimes with occasional passing trucks cars etc -can’t change the input on the TV off of cable tv channels like to plug in a laptop or ps4. Remote is special hotel remote and tv buttons are locked. Very annoying. -some rooms need a deep cleaning like...

The only reason to go here is it's cheap and it's walking distance to Alex's Bar, The Prospector, and my favorite LB 24 hour Mexican food, La Revancha. The host was rude. They gave away the room I specifically reserved with the double beds and instead put me and my buddy in a single king, and then had an attitude about it and would not reduce the rate to what a room should have been for a single. The carpet and furniture in the room were dirty and dingy. This is slumming to go see some punk bands at dive bars. You get what you pay for. The best part was finishing my scorpion lollipop, which was about as delicious as licking the carpet in this dirty room. It didn't kill me, so I guess it made...
