Schooner Or Later — Attraction in Long Beach

I'm not upset, just tired.

To preface, the girls outside calling parties and answering questions were very friendly and polite. They were sympathetic, and encouraging us to check if our food was finished when I asked where to wait.

My girlfriend and I went here to eat at 11:30. We went in expecting at least some wait, but the front told us that it was going to be at least 2hrs, so we decided to order to go instead.

The order process was easy; we just went in and told a person at the desk what we want, we paid for it in advanced, and were told to wait.

We asked where to wait, as there were no empty seats inside, and the woman told us the seating area out front was fine.

Our order was a breakfast burrito, oatmeal w/ apple and cinnamon, and an orange juice. The total was $40.

We waited for 30 minutes, expecting to be called at some point -it was busy as hell so we were understanding.

Another 15 minutes go by without being called so I went up to where we ordered to ask if we needed to wait somewhere else, but no one was at the desk, so I went back, not wanting to leave my gf alone.

We waited another 5 minutes before I went up again; no one was there.

I went back after another 5 minutes, still no one there, so I stood there for 2 minutes before someone not behind the desk asked if I needed anything.

I asked if we needed to wait inside for our order, as it's been 55 minutes, and the person said yes, looked down behind the desk and took out a brown bag with our order on the receipt, and asked if this was ours.

I don't know how long it was sitting there, as the breakfast burrito was still warm, but the oatmeal was soggy and cold. We had to go back because they forgot our drink; it wasn't in the bag.

We left to eat in the car.

Breakfast burrito was a 7/10, oatmeal was a 2/10, orange juice was a 5/10.

If you're going there, expect a long wait and overpriced food.

If you're ordering, hang around where you ordered, because they won't call your name or order...

7/12/25 Back at schooners....

Schooners has been an every Saturday brunch destination. Never a bad experience until today...

Wait time was a normal experience... No problem. We then placed our orders. I ordered a spinach and mushroom omelette with feta instead of Jack cheese... Order was perfect.

My husband ordered the ABC omelette. He was baffled when it came with broccoli but we didn't really think about it. Then we realized after he was almost done with it, he received the wrong order. He first mentioned to the waitress that he didn't order hash browns so she brought an order of berries that he originally ordered, instead of the potatoes.

She came back and asked if all was good.. I said well actually no... We basically received someone else's order. She said..."do you want me to say something about it?" We said that's ok... The dish was eaten. Then.....

Paying for our bill.. which was around $56.23.... give or take.... We Paid with a $100.00 Bill, we should've received$43.77 back....but. .She gave us $24 back. It said right on that receipt, what the change should be.... $43.77, but yet, she gave us $24... She shorted us exactly $20 bucks. This really... Really looks like she was tipping herself and hoping we didn't notice. I hope not ..

We do love schooners, so we're gonna give them the benefit of the doubt.

My advice, just be mindful when paying your bill. 👍

No Longer A 4 Star ⭐ ⭐ ⭐..

What a calm, very chill atmosphere. My first time here and everyone was extremely nice and accommodating. We sat at the benches and the wait wasn't very long as we sip on our mimosas. A lovely place to...

⚠️⚠️Didn’t meet our expectations at all😞😞

After watching Guy Fieri’s endorsement on DDD & reading many reviews on google , we decided to visit this SL a try.

The place near a water front so sitting outside on a beautiful day is good and can be relaxing.

But we had a very bad experience here. Staring with the greeters at the front. Those 2 guys are inexperienced and gave us a vibe that they don’t want to work there.

Later they seated us inside… but a group of people seated next to us so loud that we couldn’t even get a word across our table. So finally the staff moved us outside and got us a table.

We ordered their very famous dish ( the Guy Fieri raved about ) —the mess. Truly it was a mess in more negative way. It was flavorless. I can only taste mashed potatoes. No other flavors can be tasted. I ate little bit and left it. Truly a disappointment 🤨☹️🙁

We also ordered Chicken nacho. The portion was really big. But the bottom layer was clumpy cheese. It was so much. Then few chicken pieces over. It was ok. Better than their famous Mess. See the pictures.

We ordered 2 chicken tender plates. These were heavily breaded with very little chicken. Only thing good was the fries came with it.

The waiter may be came one or twice to check on us or refill our drinks. At the end of the meal , we called the waiter and told her about the food. She said oh ok … sorry ! The manager came later and never taken responsibility for the mediocre food. We paid the bill in full and made a decision to never ever return to this place.
