Doing some weekend exploring out in Long Beach & ended up at 2nd & PCH & then ended up picking here to eat.
Very happy with choosing this place....fresh tasty pasta, fantastic service & just great vibe!
ITEM'S ORDERED:
Vegetarian Lasagna Pappardelle (w/ pesto)
TASTE:
Both the dishes came out fairly quick. They were both hot, smelled & looked very inviting to eat.
The Vegetation Lasagna came with what I'm pretty sure was mushroom, carrots, asparagus, red pepper, onion, zucchini. Bechamel sauce reminds me of a rosa sauce (tomato & cream). Very well seasoned, somewhat creamy, not overly tart tomato flavor. The veggies were cooked down enough but not soggy & had a natural fresh sweet flavor. Only thing I'd change is have the pasta be a little more al dente. It's green (maybe spinach) pasta which just makes the dish look even more "veggie".
Pappardelle (w/ pesto) was executed basically perfectly. The pesto comes off buttery, savory, herby, cheesy enough, in all the right ways. Big fan of this cut of pasta & it had a nice bite.
One of the best (if not the best) pasta meals I've had alongside some good (higher end) spots in Little Italy in the SD area.
SERVICE, LOCATION, & PARKING:
The service both started & ended this meal in the best way. The cashier was so genuine & friendly when taking my order as well as when she brought the food out. I had to get a to go box & the male worker had a great attitude when asking me how I like everything.
They are located in the 2nd & PCH shopping center on the ground level, towards the middle area. Nice, casual somewhat homely feel with inside & outside seating. It's quite a spacious interior which I like.
Parking is very easy since there's a large structure with free parking (up to 90 minutes without validation). You can enter the structure from PCH as well as Marina Dr.
When I'm in the mood for some very well made pasta in a good atmosphere & don't want to be overcharged at some high end place, while also not sacrificing quality, I'll definitely make my way back here.
FINAL NOTES:
There's like a "house" dog named Hunter who roams around who is so cute.
The table in back of where I ate I'm pretty sure were the owner's or something & they were all speaking Italian. Just made the meal even...
ย ย ย Read moreFood is good review is more on customer service. I placed an online order last Saturday 5/17/25 and it estimated it would be ready in 25min. Time had passed the app hadnโt updated that it was ready so I decided to call to see if it was ready since I was at work and didnโt wanna waste my lunch break going over there and waiting longer. A man answered the phone (didnโt get his name) and I had asked him if my order was ready or still working, and his response was โI dunnoโ so I asked if he could check for me please, he said โugh I dunno what was it, was it for Uber,DoorDash?Online?โ Told him my name for the order and what it was and he said โI dunno man, just come in and find out if itโs ready or notโ I just hung up at that point. I walked over there and they were slightly busy so I give them the benefit of the doubt for not being able to check, there were only 2 to go bags on the counter though 1 was mine. HOWEVER the way he spoke to me and handled the situation was awful. All he had to say is โIโm sorry weโre a little busy right now and Iโm not able to check, youโre welcome to call back in a couple mins and we can check for youโ Not sound annoyed that you even have to talk to someone in the first place, Iโd say if thatโs ur attitude then maybe customer service...
ย ย ย Read moreI was born and raised in Italy, and even if I've lived here for more than three decades, sometimes I miss my native country's food. Here in SoCal, your typical options are: 1. The Olive Garden and similar chain restaurants and 2. Expensive Italian restaurant. Option #1 isn't authentic Italian food, and, personally, I detest it. Option #2 can be very authentic (but there's no guarantee if you don't know real Italian food), but it's typically very pricey. To me, it's ridiculous to fork out $100 just to eat what my mom made me for dinner. The Italian Homemade Company is the perfect middle ground. It's a casual restaurant, the prices are reasonable, but the food is authentic and delicious (yes, it is owned by Italians). They make their own fresh pasta, tortellini, ravioli, lasagne, etc. And the sauces are 100% authentic. Ah, finally true Italian home cuisine! Besides the noodles, this place serves piadina and cassone, which are flat bread sandwiches from the Emilia-Romagna region. And they're also authentic and delicious. Finally, they have a Tiramisu to die for, made with real Mascarpone cheese and not with cheap cream cheese, like in many so-called Italian...
