Heavenly Donuts does not sound as high quality as the name Winchell’s or Krispy Kreme, and to top it off, the image branding is light blue and so blah. But it’s true, their donuts ARE heavenly, and they ARE better than Krispy Creme or Winchell’s. I think a lot more people would notice they are truly superior if they changed their name and branding to something more food themed and not so second-rate looking. I was surprised when I found out they are actually a chain because they don’t seem to understand what their market wants to see and hear, branding wise. Based on a lot of these reviews, looks like most people don’t know it’s a chain. No my opinion has nothing to do with religion, I don’t care about that, I’m just saying Heavenly Donuts doesn’t sound as tasty as Krispy Kreme and I think they loose ratings for that. Especially the locations that compete with Krispy Kreme, just because people would assume that Krispy Kreme is better because of the name, and yes those locations near a Krispy Kreme do get lower ratings. But in a taste test side by side, Heavenly Donuts actually do taste wayyy better. They are the quintessential perfect donut. Exactly the way you imagine a donut SHOULD taste and then even better than that. They lack nothing, they are crispy but also so light and fluffy they melt in your mouth so they disappear very, very fast. And a lot of these reviewers were very surprised that they tasted so amazing which shows the reviewers didn’t EXPECT that from the outside by their name and branding. I have marketing experience and even just adding Absolutely to the beginning of their name would help: Absolutely Heavenly Donuts. But they could do even better than that. They should call me lol. They should be much more popular than Krispy Kreme and Voodoo. I haven’t tried other locations though. Hoping they are just as good...
Read moreOkay, some lady wrote she drives 300 miles for these donuts, another guy said these are the best donuts in 150 miles...I am not the harbinger of all things donut, but that can't be true. These donuts are average at best and several are not even worth eating.
A few positives include the strawberry frosting...nice flavor, the donut it was on was airy and mediocre. The fruit fritters are good. Pretty amazing they can squeeze so much fruit flavor into a very, very fried dish. The maple frosted cinnamon roll stole the show, though. Solid choice. However, it may have been the big contrast to the maple glazed old fashioned which tasted like it was made with curry powder - not awful, but different and unexpected. The buttermilk bar looked promising but was a bit dry and had coconut in it (another surprise!). Likely it would have been good fresh and dunked in some coffee.
All in all this was a disappointing visit for a dessert donut run. In the morning with the right beverage in hand these donuts would have been mediocre, but as an independent sweet treat, they really missed the mark. I'd give em another run in a pinch but I'd stick to the fritters and...
Read moreThe glazed donuts are amazing. the donuts that they're known for which is the fritters they're not bad, they're pretty good. But the thing that bothered me most was their customer service. The people that were working are not rude but they weren't really friendly either. They have these Puffs these cream puffs that I was interested in I wanted to buy two of them. But they wouldn't allow me to buy two I had to buy 14 and I didn't want to commit to that not knowing what they would taste like. What I asked them why do I have to buy so many they said because what everybody knows how good the puffs are so that's why we're not selling them individually. That was a big turn-off for me. And the prices are really good on their donuts and like I said the glazed donuts or very good but I feel like it the quality of service isn't up to par then they lose a lot of...
