I usually never write reviews but WOW! I just had to! I have curly hair so I am VERY picky about the hair stylists that I go to. And since I have long AND curly hair, finding a decent stylist with a reasonable price in the LA area is nearly impossible! After several over priced and disappointing hair cuts, I stumbled across Adriana’s business. Her website looked so professional and her instagram showed beautiful work. So I decided to give her business a shot! And oh my! Adriana did NOT disappoint!
Several of the salons I’ve visited in the past just try get you in and out of their chairs. I’ve spent hundreds of dollars at other salons for a rushed hair cut that left me feeling unsatisfied. I used to have to save months for a single haircut. But, Adriana makes it so accessible and affordable with her “pay what you can” policy. Being able to afford haircuts on a more regular basis will definitely benefit my hair health in the long run.
Overall, Adriana is personable and friendly. She discusses with you in detail how exactly you want your haircut done. She has lived a thousand lives and her stories were so intriguing throughout my whole visit. She has been a hairstylist for many years and I think it is apparent in how knowledgeable Adriana is about hair. I asked for a shag look with rounded out bangs that cover my thinning hair. And that’s exactly what I got! She shows you exactly what techniques and products you can use to achieve your desired look. Overall, amazing service and amazing person. I will definitely be coming back...
Read moreI love Adriana at Washed Out Salon so much! It doesn't feel like going to get a haircut, it's more like visiting your cool, stylish friend who you get to have a great conversation with while she gives you the most awesome haircut of your life. The salon is so homey, welcoming, colorful, beautifully decorated with so many fun touches. Adriana really gets how to work with curly and wavy hair, and she also listens so carefully to what you're trying to achieve with your hair, understanding that a haircut is more than something functional, it's a personal experience that can change your whole attitude. She cuts my hair dry, which 100% achieves the best results I've ever experienced in years of getting haircuts. I've often left other salons feeling like I need to figure out how to make a haircut work, or that the styling looks kind of cool but isn't achievable for me in everyday life. When I leave Washed Out, Adriana has given me a cut and style that feels totally authentic to me, and I feel like a freshened up version of my truest self. Last but not least, being greeted by Adriana's cat Tuli and pup Pancho is the highlight of every visit. They are the sweetest duo, and always brighten my day with their good energy. We are so lucky to have Adriana and Washed Out Salon in...
Read moreI will preempt this by saying I’ve been here several times and that alone means that I liked it enough, at one point, to come back. However after the last couple of appointment I will not be returning.
If you have naturally curly hair I would think twice before booking an appointment. She uses a razor to cut hair, something I, to be fair, should have explicitly asked her not to do.
Also unfortunately she does not remember her clients. My most recent appointment was my 4th time getting my hair cut there in the last year and she did not remember me or my preferences (ie the use of the razor). Every time I go she tells me the same stories she’s told me before as if it’s the first time. Not a huge deal but most stylists I know who run their own salon are able to keep up with their client base— as that is what will keep people coming back.
Finally there is a lack of professionalism— on the appointment before this one I stood on her porch for ten minutes waiting for her to answer the door. She came down and told me she missed the call because she was asleep (at the time of the...
