I was debating writing this review or not. 1 because Iām sure Iāll get a response explaining that they gave me options and information which is true they did. 2 the other 1 star reviews are very similar to my experience. Itās all about the tone being used to answer questions/give information. Was I told they were full and unable to accommodate a kitten, Yes and I understand. My hope with calling a rescue whether it was this one or another one was to get help. If youāre full maybe you work with other rescues. Okay you didnāt know of anyone, thatās fine. Iām no expert so yes I was unable to state whether the kitten was a few days old or a few weeks old. My mom had just found it maybe an hour before I made the call she took it to work with her. I know time is crucial so Iām trying to do whatever I can to help her so she can help this kitten and give it a chance. Through the rudeness I was told my number would be forwarded to a bottle-feeder but whether or not I would be contacted was not guaranteed. I get a text at 9:56 am asking for pictures of the kitten, once again I donāt have kitten with me so I call my mom right away to get pictures I get a follow up text at 9:59am. At 10:00am I receive the pics and as Iām downloading them to send them at 10:01am I get a call from the first gentleman I spoke to insinuating I was ignoring the bottle-feeder on purpose to which I had to remind this person that I was not physically with my mom or the kitten. So I was going to send the pictures as I had just received them. Ultimately, I was back to square one as it was determined from two picture of the kittenās face that it was much older than 3 weeks and it should be eating on itās own and using a litter box. However, like I said Iām no expert to determine any of these things all I know and all my mom knows is the following: This kitten was found underneath a car, another kitten possibly its sibling was found on the opposite side of the same street deceased. This kitten is small and does not open its eyes and barely moves whether this is from malnutrition , poor care or its age. My mom is trying her best, she got the kitten some milk and is offering through a feeding syringe. I do appreciate being informed that I could take it to a shelter where it would most likely be euthanized. Obviously the point of not just leaving the kitten where it was, is to give it a fighting chance. So thank you for the general information about keeping the kitten warm, bottle feeding it and stimulating it to use the restroom. We will do our best to help it. If youāve taken the time to read all of this just show people some grace. Nobody wakes up knowing theyāll find an animal in need. People reach out to those we can call professionals that may have access to more resources. So ultimately as I said before, itās not what you say but...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI was in-between places and needed to temporarily house my furry buddy Mickey. Unfortunately, Mickey had gotten very sick a few days prior. I tried emergency veterinary hospitals, but the costs were more than I could afford, though I'd have given anything if I had it. Well, hoping for the best I took him and Gene took one look at him and immediately started treatment inserting an IV, giving him an injection, etc. My cat remained with Gene and his helper for 2 weeks. Gene gave me status reports when Mickey finally was able to drink on his own, when he finally started to eat. Until that point we weren't sure if Mickey would make it. But he did thank goodness. I should add that Gene isn't a vet, nor is his place an animal hospital, but the guy and is helper without a doubt saved my cat from sure death and I didn't receive some multi-thousand dollar bill. He provided the temporary place I needed for Mickey as well and I am happy to say Mickey is doing great and is happily doing his qwerky things at our new place. Gene also helped a friend I recommended to him with some rescues and adoptions. If this is a lengthy review it's because it reflects my gratitude because I called a lot of places before I called Gene and most of them didn't even answer the phone. Those that did said they couldn't help. I don't know if Gene sensed the panic in my voice when I called but he said something that reassured me when I called. He said don't worry, I got you. He's worth every donation, fee, or any other cost that you may be considering. I'm certainly grateful. And an unforseen bonus, Mickey now likes to go for rides...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI contacted them hoping to be pointed in the right direction, I have 2 kittens that were practically just left behind in a box on the sidewalk and I just kept them. I dont know how old they are or any real information about them.. all I know is they needed something... about 2 weeks ago 1 of them started waking up with its eye glued shut, I noticed eye discharge and tried cleaning it with warm water as much as I could.. Also during the same time the same cat started sneezing a bit.. now a few days ago the other one started sneezing also and I'm clueless as to what to do.. so i turned to Google, every place was showing up closed except here.. I looked for contact information and there it was.. I nervously called the number and on the other end, a calming voice just listened and gave me the best advice.. not too busy to answer a non paying inquiry, that in itself is so rare.. I explained the situation and I was given the answers I needed.. so grateful and honestly emotional to find people that actually care and are willing to help without focusing first on making money.. I was so nervous I didnt even catch your name sir, but you know who you are.. thank you, I will do what you suggested and I'm sure my babies will be fine... I appreciate you.. To anyone reading this, even though I didnt actually walk into this place, think about this: if they cared enough to help me over the phone, imagine how wonderful they will be to you in person.. I feel so much better.. thank you.....
