Best of the best.. I used to come here often to buy crickets, tarantulas, and supplies to take care of my collection. They take VERY good care of all the animals, and its one of the best places you can buy reptiles and fish. Everything is priced pretty reasonably - you can get decent aquariums pretty cheap.
Rusty has a supplier who was able to build me a custom aquarium with dividers, and I was able to specify how I wanted everything down to the lids being half-glass and the other half screen. I was able to have enough room for 4 large Tarantulas, and they have plenty of room to roam around, dig, hunt, and I was able to replicate their natural habitat pretty well. It worked out so well, I bought an exact clone of this design about a year later. Rusty takes the time to help people out personally, so he (to my surprise) remembered the size of the original custom build he set me up with. You cant go wrong with what you get here. They remember their customers well, and they know me as the "spider whisperer."
Crickets at this location are nice and BIG, and are my favorite. Unfortunately I moved to the Marina so I don't get to come here as much, but when I need something I take the drive out on the weekend if I am free. There are other shops local to me less than 2 miles away from where I currently am, but I have yet to find anything comparable (not even close) to Exotic Life on both the west side, and in the rest of the...
Read moreExtremely poor customer service.
I used to be a frequent customer 7 years ago and just came back to the area. Bought some Amano Shrimp yesterday and had them die last night. The tank they were in have other amano and fish in it in perfect condition. I’ve been in the hobby for 10 years and have a lot of experience with freshwater and shrimp care. My water parameters are always stable because my tanks have been established for years. The shrimp dying was not a problem because I understand there is no way to guarantee the health of the animals.
However after attempting to replace the shrimp with store credit or an exchange we were told it was our fault because our parameters were too perfect. Yes, the manager told us that our water parameters were TOO GOOD and that the shrimp died because the store runs their tanks at a ph of 8.5. He said it was our responsibility to properly acclimate the shrimp (which we had done) to our tank because they were in poor water conditions at the store.
I have been to dozens of aquarium shops over the years and have never had a shop refuse to exchange because my water quality was spot on. $10 of store credit just turned into much more lost for them. I’ll be bringing my...
Read moreThe only reason i’m giving 2 stars is because their reptiles looked healthy which is always nice to see. I drove about an hour to come to this reptile store because they seemed to have a nice selection online. I recently bought a leopard gecko who hasn’t been eating and i was hoping to get some advice from the workers here, i explained what was going on with my reptile and the first thing he said to me was “Just take it back” without asking a single question. He was rude and seemed to have absolutely no care about what i was telling him. I then asked about some roaches i wanted to buy and the man said to buy them from another store, he didn’t even want my business. not to mention, the roaches were super overpriced and so were all the reptiles. i would never recommend anyone to come here. PS: The man wasn’t wearing his mask properly, it was placed under his nose which is ironic considering that they have tons of signs about strict mask policies, and yet they can’t even follow...
