HAIR, Los Angeles is the best salon establishment in not only all of Los Angeles, but I can say with whole hearted conviction: the best in both west (and east) coasts. There is no competition. If HAIR, Los Angeles was a reality show star their tagline would deservedly qualify to state “Sometimes it is not a superiority complex, it is Just...superiority.” In the words of the late American journalist Shana Alexander, “Hair brings one’s self-image into focus; it is vanity proving ground. Hair is terribly personable, a tangle of mysterious prejudices.” I only wish that Shana Alexander could have visited HAIR in her lifetime to witness an institution that fully encompasses her humanist quote. I choose to believe that she has in spirit.
I came across HAIR by fate, sitting downtrodden in an Eagle Rock bar and sporting mousy highlights. “Go to HAIR, ask for Kayla Casey,” a woman with an impeccable bleach and tone said to me after I approached her to ask Where?, Exactly? Do stylists exist with such meticulous skill? Her boyfriend emphatically pulled my cellphone out of my eager hands, typing @hairlosangeles into the Instagram search page.
The rest is ongoing history. Kayla Casey and her assistant Jocelyn are capable of anything and everything. I have also had an incredible experience with Belen after I misguidedly swam in a chlorinated pool the same day Kayla & Joc worked steadfast on my tape in extensions.
What I can’t express enough is the incredible kindness each and every person at HAIR exudes. Hair is a vulnerable extension of the self, and it is clear the owner and founder Daniel Moon hand picks each member of lauded staff to enter this auspicious environment - further maintaining and expanding its atmosphere. Have you ever been to a hair salon that was featured in Architectural Digest? Look,...
Read morePoor customer service. Filled out a consultation form online. Heard back a day later and had a call with one of the employees to discuss the cost estimate and availability. At the end of the phone call after scheduling an appointment and already getting a confirmation via text she asked for my credit card information over the phone for cancellation purposes. I informed her I had no problem putting the money down to make the appointment firm but she said they could only take my card information over the phone which ie expressed I was not comfortable with. She said she would contact me again by the end of the day to see what options were available. I informed her that would be okay and to text me since I would not be able to answer calls. I only received a phone call from them and never a follow-up text. I assumed they would move forward with the appointment saying I continued to get texts about the appointment. The day before the appointment I got an email saying my appointment was canceled. They had a week from the booking and the appointment to contact me, I would not be disappointed if they tried a bit to get ahold of me but they showed no effort to communicate. Will not use their services or recommend them to others. Waisted time I could have used to schedule an appointment before the...
Read moreBest hair in LA, & best experience too. These guys do hair for all sorts of celebrities, but they treat each person who sits in their chair like royalty, the same way they do Ryan Gosling or Jesse Buckley (both clients). Danny started this place bc of an obsession with colour, and it shows— whether you’re looking for a natural strawberry blonde that looks like you were born with it, or a wild neon to change up your vibe, he knows how to protect hair while transforming it. I have referred countless friends to HAIR & been going myself for many years now. Everyone walks away, happy and feeling great about who they are because these guys understand different hair types, personal style, and how to connect with each client. Plus, the salon is insanely inspiring and like living inside of a Pinterest board you’ve only dreamed about. Obviously, I’m in love with this place and these people but I swear you will be too. Go let them fix your hair and you...
