Verve Coffee Roasters on Spring Street is one of the coolest coffee shops I’ve ever seen—and that’s saying something in LA. The space is gorgeous: wide open, full of natural light, a perfect blend of minimal and warm. Think wood, concrete, plants, and the kind of attention to design that doesn’t feel like it’s trying too hard. Just smooth, unfussy cool.
The coffee is everything you’d expect from one of California’s best roasters. Their signature Streetlevel espresso is balanced and dialed—bright citrus, a little stone fruit, and just enough depth to keep it grounded. Whether you’re into cortados, lattes, or a straight-up shot, they’re pulling it clean every time. Pour-over fans will appreciate the rotating single-origin options, and their cold brew is clean, chocolatey, and never bitter.
They also offer creative seasonal drinks—sometimes with house-made syrups or infusions that don’t overpower the coffee. And while Verve doesn’t do full kitchen service, their selection of fresh pastries, light bowls, and grab-and-go snacks is curated and always top-tier.
Staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and quick without making you feel rushed. You get the sense they actually care that your drink comes out right—not just fast. The whole experience is relaxed but efficient, and the music and ambiance make it easy to hang, work, or meet.
If you’re a coffee purist or just into beautiful spaces with good energy and great drinks, Verve on Spring is a DTLA staple. Nothing gimmicky—just well-executed craft coffee and a space you actually want to...
Read moreHorrible service towards Black women. First time visiting this location; I was treated like an unwelcome guest. I was there for almost two hours and I remained the only Black woman during that time.. Initially, no one was in line so I was confused on where/ how to place my order. No greeting. The barista (dark black hair, almost shoulder length) said, “don’t walk back there!” I said, excuse me? Confused, since there were no signs.. I told him I was new. He repeated his self then bluntly said to stand over there if you want to place an order.. He was very rude- condescending in fact and not friendly at all. I nearly changed my mind about spending money here except my friend was waiting and she already had her food.. When the cashier returned to take my order, his service was a little better- although he was significantly more friendlier to the customer before me and also to the customer after me. I placed my order and was told to listen for my name, then he pointed and said, pick up your drink from that side. Waiting on my drink, I returned to the table with my friend who visits this place quite often. She was confused as to why I wasn’t given an identifier for them to bring my drink to me. I told her the cashier didn’t mention that option.. These type of experiences of micro-aggression in customer service are not uncommon for Black women, but they should be. Everyone deserves to be treated fairly and to receive great customer service without prejudice. Verve Coffee in the Arts District...
Read moreVisited today 11.12.22 and had a very bad experience with a male(asian) employee wearing a yellow beanie. I was in the area with my partner so decided to stop by last minute and we have been to this location multiple times, never had a negative experience until today. I had a drink from Starbucks with me (again because we weren’t planning on stopping by) we both ordered and i got a muffin and my partner ordered matcha latte and a burrito. Decided to dine in, really did not think bringing coffee from another coffee shop would be a problem and if it was i would completely understand if i was approached about it in a different manner, he came up to our table with an empty cup and said “here you go for your starbucks cup” very passive aggressively and with a condescending tone, loud enough for everyone around us to hear and i felt so embarrassed. I will absolutely not be returning to Verve coffee after this experience, it left me feeling unwelcomed and quite frankly bullied. I saw him walk back to his coworkers and they all looked at me and made a face and talked amongst themselves. Management needs to have a conversation with them about how to treat their customers better in the future because that was completely unacceptable and...
