Today was my first visit to this restaurant and unfortunately I won't be returning. The restaurant offers a digital menu at the table, and you prepay via phone before being served. It's an interesting idea, but it's hard to ask any questions you might have about the menu without a server attending your table while ordering.
After placing my order I went to find the server to ask if the shrimp and grits I ordered would include the tails. After she politely answered that she believed it would, I asked if it was possible to have the tails cut off in the kitchen. I said it wouldn't be an issue if they couldn't, but that I'd order something else.
The server asked the kitchen staff at the service window and I could see a very clear annoyance on their face at my request. That employee then caught on that I was looking directly at her. The kitchen then said that they would remove the tails, but at that point the experience wasn't worth staying for.
For clarity (per the owner's response below my review), I was standing directly behind the server at the service window as she asked the kitchen staff if they could honor my request. I could hear and see the conversation very clearly taking place in front of me. I wouldn't call that ripe for misunderstanding as you did, but I would describe that part of your response as gaslighting. If you needed more clarity you could've reached out to me personally before posting publicly that this is a misunderstanding on my part.
If you're coming to the table to offer me a resolution, I'd appreciate you not insulting my sense of awareness in the same breath. I saw your DM inviting me for a complimentary meal, but the lack of hospitality in your kitchen is why I left, your response doesnt help, and a free meal won't have me forego my standards for service where I choose to...
Read moreUnfortunately we had a terrible experience! We arrived at 11, ordered at 11:12 and didn’t receive our food until 12:15. (Mind you, it was tater tots and a chicken sandwich) When our food came out it was ice cold. No exaggeration, not like warm, not even a spot of warmth. COLD! There was only one server, which I understand is difficult in itself, but when we asked her what the issue was (she was very sweet and accommodating by the way) she said they only had one chef at the time. Many people were stopping the waitress asking about their food and everything just seemed completely unorganized and in disarray. I saw another customer open up the cabinet himself and restock the plastic cups for water because the waitress was so busy. Another customer had to be walked to the bathroom by the waitress because she couldn’t understand simple directions. So in the time the waitress should have taken everyone their food, she couldn’t because they were so short staffed. There should be a rule of thumb if chefs and staff can’t make it into work, maybe add a sign that states that, so people can decide if they’d like to waste their time that day or not. The atmosphere was also one of the first things we noticed. NO MUSIC. Not even soft jazz, we felt like we couldn’t talk to each other because it was so quiet we felt like we were in the library. Overall, 1/10 (a 1 simply because the waitress was kind!) don’t waste your...
Read moreWow this place caught me off guard. I was working next door to this spot and saw they had breakfast. Decided to try out the breakfast po'boy. DAYUM is pretty much what I have to say about it. Don't be turned off by the price, that po'boy was large. Andouille sausage, egg and whatever that sauce was was spectacular. The loaf of bread it comes on, it's literally a loaf, was delicious. Very soft but toasty on the inside. While I was waiting for my order I also noticed the exterior of the building had a Creole style facade that is murdered out. Very much a vibe. Come to find out there is more to this place then what you see outside. The rest of the food looks amazing too. Definitely want to try the beignets next time. Very cool spot, great customer service and...
