After over a year of working with Haven Energy, I cannot recommend them. While my solar battery system is functional, the process has been plagued with delays, poor communication, and significant financial setbacks.
SGIP Delays & Financial Losses: Despite submitting my SGIP application in March 2024, Haven’s mismanagement caused the application to expire, requiring me to switch to NEM3, forcing me to lose out on $9,000. I now have to switch to NEM3, undermining the purpose of my battery system.
Poor Installation Support: The installation had issues like messy wiring and incorrect voltage sensor placement. Haven provided little support, leaving me to resolve these problems on my own. Lack of Communication: Communication was extremely poor. I struggled to get updates, and Haven failed to respond to their errors, leaving me without answers for months.
Ignored Request for Additional Solar: After the installation issues, I requested an at-cost installation for more solar panels, but Haven stopped responding after the site visit.
Financial & Emotional Toll: These ongoing delays and issues have been both financially draining and emotionally exhausting. My investment in the battery system is losing value without SGIP or NEM1 benefits.
Bottom Line: My system works, but the ROI is lost due to Haven's incompetence, and overall experience with Haven Energy has been frustrating. Their failure to manage SGIP and poor customer service has cost me significantly. I would not...
Read moreI was initially interested in this company because they participate in the SGIP program, which offers rebates for solar or solar + battery storage. The idea sounded great, especially since the rebate would cover a large portion of the cost. However, I have some serious concerns that others should be aware of.
One major issue was the contract terms regarding battery ownership. The contract stated that after 15 years, I would have the option to purchase the batteries at market value. But when I spoke to a company representative over the phone, they told me the buyout would only be $0 to $1. If that’s true, why wasn’t it written clearly in the contract?
When I raised this concern, I received no clear response. It feels like the company is being evasive or not fully transparent. They highlight the “too good to be true” parts of the deal, but avoid addressing the long-term implications or giving solid answers. This lack of honesty and poor communication is troubling.
People need to be cautious — the deal might look appealing upfront, but unclear contract terms and unresponsive support could lead to problems down the road. Don’t make a long-term decision without asking a lot of questions and getting...
Read moreSpecial thanks for our San Jose Clean Energy for connecting me with their partner Haven Energy (my excellent advisor is Darren!) to be loaded into the fully state funded SGIP (Self-Generation Incentive Program) program where qualified households can add a battery to their new or existing rooftop solar system, covering up to 100% of project costs. Everything from applications and design to installation and 10 years of maintenance is covered. There are no out-of-pocket costs, credit checks, or property liens required. Funding is limited and is available on a first-come, first-served basis. As a CA state funded program, SGIP is... complicated - so I especially appreciate my Haven Energy advisor Darren's clear and calm approach of guiding me and making sure all of my questions are quickly answered. THANK YOU Darren, Haven Energy and San Jose...
