Tia Chucha's Centro Cultural — Attraction in Los Angeles

Had a horrible experience here. Went with my Peruvian wife and half Peruvian son to a supposed cultural event on Peru here. The event was provided by mostly Mexican descendants. Only the event was all New Age hogwash and a total distortion of actual Peruvian history, cultural, and events. We had gone to Tia Chucha's about a week after returning from a 6-week trip to Peru. On raising our concerns about the total distortions of actual Peruvian culture and history, I was threatened to shut up, and was told that being white, I wasn't allowed to speak on such matters, and my Peruvian wife wasn't allowed to speak either. When insisting that the information provided was incorrect, we were subsequently threatened with violence to take our family and leave immediately, or we would be escorted out by force and beaten up outside. Management did absolutely nothing to intervene in this outrage. I later wrote a letter to management following up on this absurd racism, but it was entirely ignored. Unless you want to hear a bunch of fake New Age hyperbolic history and be threatened for questioning it, avoid this so-called cultural center at all costs. Nothing but a bunch of racist,...

This is a really amazing place to go if you want to feel at home especially if your native American or Mexican. What I love about this place is that I feel at home when I am here and also there is many bilingual books and they are also part of many other companies. What I love about this is that this also collaborates with other companies that are multicultural for example Somos Familia Valle and Raspado express. If any one is anyone i would come here people are friendly and lots of odd books you can't really find anywhere else, their outreach program is pretty awesome and the music is genuine and full! The art is good and you can pretty much find what you need here. If you have children and need them to be open minded and more in tune with their spirituality this is the place to come.
