Colonial Park Mall — Attraction in Lower Paxton Township

This mall was once a great place. I worked there in several stores from 2004-2013. The food court lost stores the CVS moved out. Boscovs has ceilings leaking. Shoe store are not like they used to be. Sears isn't what it used to be. It's a pretty mall or was when I worked there. White floors plenty of wheelchair accessible walkways. Santa and the Easter Bunny center is always decorated so cute. I was even allowed with my daughter also grownup to sit on Santas lap and get a picture. He was a pleasant older gentleman with a real beard. I think he enjoyed our visit as much as we did. The pet store is a new addition to this mall which of course we have to see the puppies cats birds and fish. But I wasn't fond of the reptiles. Buffalo Wild Wings also a new addition. I've noticed the malls in America are dying. Many that are still open need major repairs. Parking lots are horrible unmaintained and full of trash. You cant bring people back if you dont keep the parking lots clean and smooth pavements. Dont repair leaky roofs it looks tacky with large trash cans catching leaking ceilings. It smells musty in the stores that have carpeting. I was disappointed the last time I visited. So many vacant stories. Overheard an employee talking to a manager that the rent is so high. Customers aren't coming in. And it's up to the stores upper tiers in CEOC'S to pay for repairs. The company told them business is too slow revenue isn't coming in the rent keeps going up overhead costs are always raising. So that's why that store is closing its doors. I heard that complaint back when I worked at the mall and then there was only 3 to 6 stores that closed. I counted 11 the day I visited. Small shopping centers were closed down because of the Malls now its reversed. Shopping centers are booming. I guess people are willing to walk through inclement weather to save...

Colonial Park Mall is getting the five star review because of the nice young lady in Claire’s boutique for the life of me. I cannot remember her name right now, but she will know who she is when I mentioned my dog Diamond. My dog is a service animal, and she is a very friendly service animal. I have tried over and over to break her of that habit, but she senses when people are sad, happy, I will just need someone to hug or talk to. And she finally believes that she is the one to do this, So as I was entering Claire’s boutique, the young lady started panicking and I can tell it was sincere. She was terrified as she asked me to please not bring the dog in there. She explain to me how she was attacked by a family pet and it was devastating to her. You could tell so of course even though Diamond is a service animal I would not in any way bring any kind of post traumatic stress to this woman, so Diamond waited outside of the store with my friend. Diamond kept watching this young lady with a facial expression. I cannot explain in the young lady kept watching Diamond. For some reason, the young lady decided that she needed to face her fears, and she decided to do this that very moment with Diamond! It was a sight to see a Diamond was very gentle and in this, I saw the fear in this woman’s eyes remove itsel! not only did she give some of the best customer service I’ve ever had. I was able to give her something in return, comfort. Now we go back often to see her and to purchase things out of Claire’s that has become our regular store and Diamond‘s favorite store because she gets to see her. Boscovs, Great American Escape Movie is a huge hit because of their excellent prices.Inexpensive compared to other places. Spend time here away from the heat or the frigid cold. You can't go wrong. Movies round the clock. Holy Spirit walkers for health, Shoe Carnival, many more reputable shoe places such as Foot Locker.. I've gone to several shoe stores and recieved good deals.Sears, Hallmark gifts and cards, Spencer gifts, Bon Ton, Cell phone Store that sells all brands, Game center, Many clothing stores I cannot tell you every name, Auntie Ann Pretzels, Video's, Jewelery and many more places set up outside in the mall Not usually extremely busy. Years ago this was one of the first large outdoor mall. It was transformed from an outdoor malll in late 70's to early eighties. A longtime patron.It may not be the newest & grandest but for being one of the oldest mall in Harrisburg area it holds it own because the people who work here seem to care. I and others I talk to find good deals. It is clean and it is not full of people just standing around looking to cause disruption. The security guards are very helpful.They helped with suggestions of where the best deals are! Not so large you must walk miles to see everything but it's the right size for anyone to get thru it in a reputable...
