72+ hours later and I'm still fuming over the 'service' I received from, what appeared to be, one of the owners...since she was included in many of the family pictures hanging on the wall/door. A delightful and empathetic sales clerk greeted and assisted me in my attempt to replace a synthetic gem for my Memorial Urn Necklace containing my sister's ashes. She asked the woman how we could go about doing this without leaving my treasured necklace with them for a few days. When we finally agreed on a plan, the owner initiated the transaction by asking me my name and asked for my driver's license. I reluctantly gave it to her, but quite shocked when I saw that she scanned it into their system (thought she only wanted it for the address). WHA??? for a $35 transaction? When I questioned this, she became defensive and said that if I didn't want to do business with a trusted family owned business, I could go elsewhere. AND THAT I DID!, and will continue to do for future purchases and referrals. Hopefully that thoughtful employee does the same. When we first came into to get my ring sized it took about 10-15 minutes for us to get someone to notice and talk to us. We should have left because of that but decided not to. The jeweler was actually pretty nice and gave an accurate size of what my ring should be. He told me that it would take a week so I should be expecting a call. I called them back after a week because I haven't heard back from them and they didn't even start my ring yet. They said it would be ready the week after that but I needed the week they said it would be done so that was an issue. They said they could expedite it so I could have it in time so I went the next day and they were closed so I couldn't even get it the day they said it would be done. I finally got a call back and went to pick up my ring, and again the customer service was horrible. She greeted me but had a conversation with her co-workers until we mentioned we needed help. Update: turned out the "14K gold" kidney wires they sold me were actually only "gold filled." I was very concerned about this, but after talking to them, I do believe it was an honest mistake. ..still a mistake that a fine jeweler shouldn't make. They ended up making new Gold kidney wires in-house. These new ones were a guage thinner, so they feel cheep and are very bendy, and also turned my ears Black! So I took the new ones to another jeweler to assess them and learned they were only 10k gold, not 14k gold. So after 2 tries with this shop i still dont have 14k gold wires and my ear holes are Black from the low quality metal.
