Value City Furniture — Local services in Lower Paxton Township

I'm a local patron and this Value City location has never disappointed our family in regard to the service, inventory, and quality of the furniture. I've purchased two couches from here in the last year and I'm very satisfied with both. Just recently, our son graduated from college and will be moving into his apartment soon. He wanted a loveseat style sofa as the apartment footprint is on the small side. Richard greeted us at the door, and he was a familiar face, having sold us the previous couch a year ago. He asked what we were looking for and provided us with a general layout of the store so that we could focus our efforts on the loveseat sofas. He wished us well and we began our shopping. Midway through the store Richard checked in with us casually to see if we had any questions and then left us to continue our shopping. He is never pushing a sale or stalking you throughout the store like some other places we've been too. We found the loveseat in the clearance section (of all places) and it had a minor defect that is fixable. Richard worked to get us limited warranty coverage for no extra charge, which was very much appreciated.

Upon checking out, Richard went over their Memorial Day special for financing the purchase in the event that we wanted to consider it. The transaction was quick, and Richard worked with us to schedule a pickup date. An important mention is that you cannot pick up on Tuesdays or Wednesdays If you're short on time to receive furniture.

Picking up the couch requires you to go around back of the store where you'll find a red colored, unmarked door. It will be unlocked, so just head inside. There were two people in the warehouse but only the dark-haired gentleman was actually doing anything. Eventually, he asked the woman to check us in and she did so with the enthusiasm and cheerfulness of a rain drenched sloth. However, the couch emerged from the warehouse wrapped nicely in clear plastic and the gentleman helped my son and I load it onto the bed of the truck. A quick signature on a release form and we were on our way. Overall, we were happy with the experience.

I had a great experience shopping in person, sales associates were not pushy. However, my experience ended up being horrible & I'll never go back. I ordered a bed & matching dresser (totaling nearly $2000 in early October for a late November delivery. Everything was set, dates confirmed, etc. The DAY BEFORE (24 hours prior) the items were to be delivered, I received a call confirming the delivery time. 12 hours later (the evening before the delivery) I get a call saying my bed frame was not available & I needed to pick another, but the dresser would still come. Already frustrated with this being last minute, I said I don't want the dresser anymore because it matched the bed. To which I was told, "well it's already on the truck & for the bed frame, you can just pick another." There was no offer to make it right, no compassion for the $2000 & over a month time period I waited. I then asked if I can pick any bed frame. I was told "it needs to be either the same price or lower." So, not only are you telling me I can't have what I originally ordered, but I need to stay within a specific price point for replacement. I ended up declining & received a call back from the actual location I ordered from saying I can pick any bed frame, price point doesn't matter due to their error. After all the back & forth, I felt it was safest to not continue with this company due to the inconvenience. I am still very frustrated by this experience, there was no care or intentions of trying to make it right. Terrible customer service, all the issues were not at all on my error. Well I would have to say i am beyond impressed and extremely happy . We ran into a situation where our dog got sprayed by a skunk and destroyed our couch in the process. Needless to say ... the Manager LELA and Vinnie were absolute rockstars with helping me get a good deal and getting it quick. They had so much much to choose from it was alittle overwhelming. I wanted one of everything. Lol. Ended up finding an awesome sectional unit and they worked with me on the price to help me out with the situation ( Floor model) . They dont do pickup on Sunday but they make a huge exception for me because of the situation I was in and how fast I needed it . I paid and came back the next day just to be greeted by a few employees that dont work in the warehouse or shipping etc. They all worked together and helped me load everything up onto my trailer on a Sunday afternoon. I will say Vinnie did a heck of a nice job wrapping it up with plastic to protect everything for my 45 minute ride home . All I can say is that they went up and above in every aspect . I couldn't have had a better experience if I tried. Vinnie and Lela are the ones that made this happen and I cant thank you guys enough. The rest of the crew on Sunday was absolutely amazing also. This is definitely my go to place. I won't go anywhere else. Thanks a million guys. 10 stars...
