Very historic and interesting free tour. Self guided, with a volunteer greeting you on entrance. Currently (01/2024) if you donate $5 or more, the give you a nice JD shot glass. A $15 donation gets you a nice bag of literature and other goodies, and since the museum relies on donations for funding, it is a good cause. If you are lucky, you may meet Randall Fanning, a fixture at Jack Daniels for over 40 years, and a wealth of stories and local information. There have been births in the jail, as well as deaths over the years, and some say the old jail is haunted! Many great displays and wall hangings to keep your attention.

There is quite a bit of history in this building and the gentleman working the day I visited, his name is Ernie, was very knowledgeable. The tour is by donation and I don’t think you can book in advance. There is a lot to see not just in the jail but artifacts and memorabilia from the town.
