This is not about an actual stay, but my attempt to rent. After visiting their website and reading reviews, we thought this would be a great place to stay if it was available during the annual Jack Daniels Invitational Barbecue.||||I first contacted them asking if the availability calendar was correct and that this property was available during the Invitational. I received no reply for three weeks.||||But when I returned to their website, the dates were still clear so I took a chance and placed a reservation. I provided contact and credit card information as required. But heard nothing for three days.||||On the fourth day, I received an email from the property manager saying this wasn't really available on those dates. It was normally only rented to family or friends at that time. The owners were only gathering names to gauge interest. Well, they gathered my name AND credit card information with no intention of renting to me on that date.||||The property manager further stated that the owners would decide over the summer whether to rent to someone besides family or friends. And if I wanted to keep my name on the list, there was a chance I could get it.||||As this would have been my first visit to Lynchburg, I can only say how sad and disappointed I am by the way they misrepresented the availability of...
Read moreThis cottage was a fantastic place to stay in the beautiful town of Lynchburg.
It's centrally located, which puts it firmly within walking distance of almost everything you could want to do in the town proper. The cottage itself was clean and livable. Comfortable beds with clean bedding. The refrigerator and A/C worked perfectly (I did not avail myself of the other appliances). The property had a manager next door who both have me privacy but made it clear she was available if we needed anything.
I could nitpick and say I wish the bathroom had more countertop space, or better water pressure in the shower, but for a short visit it was barely noticeable.
Perhaps my experience is best summed up with this: I intend to make another visit to Lynchburg in the next few years, and this is the first place I'll be considering for that stay. Hopefully it will be available again...
Read moreOk, the 3 must do's in Lynchburg. 1 Visit Jack Daniels. 2 Dine at Miss Mary Bobo's 3. Stay at the Mulberry Cottage. We hit them all.||I can't even remember how I found this property. But it was magical. The home is historic. It is large for a family and furnished in old period which takes you to a wonderful experience. We walked from the property to the Jack Daniels plant for our tour and could also walk to the town square for restaurants/shops. We met Miss Judy who is an amazing town historian and shared a glass in the evening on our porch. Time passed by so quickly and I could have listened to her stories for hours. If you're spending a night in Lynchburg....this has to be your...
