Time to write a long overdue review! I apologize in advance for the poor picture qualities, I ended up using my old phone to take the pictures. We were originally waiting for the professional photographer to take the close up detail pictures of the rings so I could use those in my review, but our plans got screwed up a bit and I didn't want to push off this review any longer than necessary in case it might help anyone else who is currently still deciding.
Before we started the design process for my wedding ring set, I was super nervous. I'm the annoying type of perfectionist who will spend months scouring the Internet and doing a ton of research before taking the plunge. If you're familiar with Game Theory, that is basically how I make all of my big decisions. After all, wedding rings are a big financial decision, and I'd rather nail it the first time rather than just settling for something I was just okay with, you know? I plan to wear this and look at it on my hand every day for the rest of my life. I didn't want to have any regrets. So that is how I initially landed on Don Basch, after going over each and every review for dozens and dozens of local jewelers in NEO.
It was just when their new building opened up. I've only ever been to jewelers in India when I visited family growing up, so I wasn't sure what to expect here. But I was immediately greeted by Marissa who was absolutely wonderful! I've never made custom jewelry before, so I was a total newb, but from start to finish, Marissa was incredibly patient and helpful, walking me through the process, taking time to design and help research ideas based off of my (very non-traditional color) unique tastes. Mind you, jewelers in India are not known for bedside manner and can be impatient and pushy, but my experience with Don Basch was super refreshing because it was the total opposite, especially for someone who is as anxious and indecisive as I am! :) Never once during the entire process, did I ever feel judged or rushed, or ever felt like anything was being "upsold". In fact, they were super great and upfront about competitive pricing, and letting me feel empowered to be able to drive decisions. Marissa was on top of the whole thing, and kept me in the decision the loop the entire time, with frequent status updates throughout.
Now Marissa is the one who I worked with, and let me tell you, she is amazing. As I said, I am not into traditional designs, and even though I had a general idea and picture of what I wanted to do, I swear Marissa must have some epic Jedi-mind tricks because she knew exactly what I was thinking, better than I was and she was able to find me the absolute most beautiful colors that i could have ever imagined. I mean pictures cannot even begin to capture how beautiful that pink pear is, in person. What's more is that I knew I wanted to include a cat-themed detail since I love my fur-babies, but had no idea how to translate that, and so she was able to design a beautiful peek-a-boo cat that I can clearly look at between the two rings, while still allowing light to enter and illuminate the stones. That is some next level ninja mastery there, so I highly recommend her design and knowledge if you are also looking to find that perfect piece :) Seeing the final produce blew my mind, and never in a million years would I have ever been able to imagine something as epic as what she delivered. She is a boss at what she does and I am so grateful.
All in all, it was an amazing experience and I 12/10 would definitely recommend Don Basch to anyone who is interested. I can't wait to get an excuse to go back and make me some matching earrings/necklaces/bracelets.
Lastly, if you know anything about Indians, we are serious about quality jewelry and if my grandmother were still here, she'd be their number 1 customer :) So honestly, that right...
Read moreDon Basch was recommended to me by friends while I was attending their wedding. They had a custom engagement ring made, and they loved it. I live very out of state, so I was skeptical of the logistics, but while I was in town I stopped by the Medina location. The staff was super friendly and helped walk me through the custom engagement ring process. We looked at diamonds, they explained grading scales, it was a fun and exciting experience, not stressful at all. We decided on some stones and a custom design, and they even gave me a few days to think it over. Within a week of deciding to move forward, they emailed me a first draft of the ring. Because most of our communications were by email, the process may have taken a little longer than average, but the design staff was patient with me and always willing to take a phone call if I preferred that to an email. They also took lots of pictures and video to make sure I was comfortable with how the finished ring looked. Once it was complete, they over-nighted the finished ring (along with some chocolates) and I was able to surprise my fiance while we were taking holiday photos. She loves her ring, she can't stop staring at it. It came out just the way we wanted, and it's truly our ring because it's one of a kind. I'm a somewhat difficult customer and I walked away from this feeling very happy with the way things turned out. I would absolutely recommend contacting Don Basch, whether you live in the Cleveland area or a few...
Read moreTook 3 rings to be sized and appraised. I paid approx 500 per ring to size and these rings Iâve e worn for 20 years and never had them bend or bow or become misshapen. ⊠well out of the 3 rings 2 lost stones immediately after the resize. They did replace the diamonds but with inferior diamonds. Do not match the quality of those that I lost. And look at the pic of the ring I wear daily that I wore 20 years daily prior⊠itâs a thin misshapen mess. I addressed it w him and he said we replaced w the same amount of shank⊠I call BS they stretched this hold out so thin and I doubt they put any new gold in. Itâs been over a year and I donât t normally leave bad feedback but this bothers me on a daily basis. I would address it again but he told me after he had to replace the second lost stone basically, he didnât want to see me again. He would not replace any more⊠excuse me? They were fine before I took them to you! Stay away from their jewelry repair. They must have been hard up for $ and had a shortage of gold to size the rings correctly. I spent thousands there for nothing but a sad /bad experience. Iâve got to take it to a reputable place to get it resized again....
