We booked tickets indivdually for the Christmas brunch and our whole party was seated at separate tables. This was my first visit and we had no idea it was an assigned seat event. When booking the tickets there was no option to list the others in your party, or to otherwise indicate we would need to. I could look past that snafu of poor event management, however the manager was incredibly rude to us when trying to remedy the situation. He was completely unwilling to even attempt to come up with a solution, and continually blamed us stating that we should have "called him". Mind you, this was my first time to this place and it was a buffet, not table service. I booked a ticket online, as did my friends, and was given no further instructions. I do believe that he may have been overwhelmed (we were not the only ones with this issue), but he seemed unwilling to take any responsibility for the issue. A simple apology and humble acknowledgement of an unfortunate situation would have gone a long way. Instead we were treated to arrogance and indifference. The rest of the staff was lovely and helpful. We waited til everyone was seated and saw two empty seats at table near my own table. After confirming with some of the staff(very kind and happy to help), we were allowed to move our other two party members there so we could all be near each other. The house was lovely, but the experience was soured with the terrible interaction from the manager who definitely needs some further customer...
Read moreA beautiful house and a great tribute to a storied piece of Macon history. There is parking along the street in front of the house and some, limited, parking in a small lot behind the house. You enter through the back of the house (not the street side). This may look like a 3 story house but it is actually 7 stories with lots of extras. Tours usually start on the hour and are provided by a knowledgeable person on the history of the house. If you come early, you can pay and look around the first floor where there is a wealth of information, china, a gift shop, and displays of the various rooms and items. The tour takes you to the upper 2 floors and then the tour guide asks if you are willing to pay $5/person to see the upper floors. It is well worth it. They are updating most of the rooms in the house but the rooms that they have already restored are wonderful. They have faux wainscotting that looks real, large round pocket doors, curved tiffany windows that move up and down, and lots of other beautiful and unique features. The whole house is beautiful and the tour is fascinating. It tells the history of the house and the area through the eye of the owners and parts of their houses. The entire tour takes about 1.5 hours. I thoroughly enjoyed the entire tour and highly recommend it to anyone wanting to learn more...
