A beautiful house and a great tribute to a storied piece of Macon history. There is parking along the street in front of the house and some, limited, parking in a small lot behind the house. You enter through the back of the house (not the street side). This may look like a 3 story house but it is actually 7 stories with lots of extras. Tours usually start on the hour and are provided by a knowledgeable person on the history of the house. If you come early, you can pay and look around the first floor where there is a wealth of information, china, a gift shop, and displays of the various rooms and items. The tour takes you to the upper 2 floors and then the tour guide asks if you are willing to pay $5/person to see the upper floors. It is well worth it. They are updating most of the rooms in the house but the rooms that they have already restored are wonderful. They have faux wainscotting that looks real, large round pocket doors, curved tiffany windows that move up and down, and lots of other beautiful and unique features. The whole house is beautiful and the tour is fascinating. It tells the history of the house and the area through the eye of the owners and parts of their houses. The entire tour takes about 1.5 hours. I thoroughly enjoyed the entire tour and highly recommend it to anyone wanting to learn more about the area.

I had the privilege of working at this venue, and it's safe to say that it was one of the most incredible experiences I've ever had. From the moment I stepped into the venue, I was greeted with warmth and kindness by the staff, who treated me with kidness and gave me free range of this stunning histroical property. Their hospitality was truly outstanding, and it made my job so much easier and enjoyable. The venue itself is truly stunning, and I was blown away by the attention to detail that went into every aspect of its design. From the beautiful architecture to the exquisite decor, every element of this venue exudes elegance and sophistication. I was truly impressed by the beauty of the space, and I felt inspired to create some truly breathtaking moments for my clients. If you're looking for the perfect wedding spot, I would highly recommend this venue without hesitation. The staff's dedication to creating a magical experience for their guests is evident in everything they do, and I have no doubt that any couple who chooses this venue for their wedding will be thrilled with their decision.

We visited a house last month. Having visited and toured numerous historic homes, I would say this one is well worth visiting if you are in or near Macon. The house has several interesting architectural features and an interesting history. From top to bottom, there are seven floors. The tour that we took was the general tour and we saw the first three floors and the basement which is very interesting. Some of the rooms contain furnishings, art, and accessories from the original and second owners. However, some of the furnishings are representations of what might have been there during the time that the first two families lived in the house. This is a very large home and more restoration is in its future. We would certainly recommend a visit if you are interested in historic homes and beautiful architecture.

We had been trying to decide for two days on when we wanted to go tour the Hay House! I promise you it will not disappoint you!! We were in awe of the building from the outside, then we stepped in and thought how great it was. Turns out the first floor was the servants quarters and when we got to the second floor it literally took my breath away! There are no words to describe how completely amazing this house is! It is 7 stories and we had to go all the way to the top! I highly recommend if you're in Macon, Georgia you go see the Hay House. Our tour guide was amazing he was very knowledgeable and so excited to share with us the information he had of the families that built and owned the House throughout the years!

We had a fantastic experience seeing and learning about the Hay House. Our guide, Shy, was bashful about us being one of his first tours, but he was fantastic. He did an amazing job showing us all the wonders of the Hay House, and answering all our questions. It was amazing to walk through living history, and try to imagine what life was like when the house was built. We had an amazing time, and I would recommend this tour to anyone who's interested in historical Georgia or architecture. The additional fee to see the top floors is worth it as well. Climbing the spiral stairs to the top of the house was an experience, and well worth it.

Wow this house is a must-see! Pat gave us a lovely tour of the treasures and stories, and it even let us open and close the giant pocket doors and sit on some of the old furnishings. Pat was sweating a lot due to NO air conditioning, but it said that the Hay House is trying to raise the funds to get it installed to help protect the precious paintings and stunning interiors. It wouldn’t let us ascend to the top level due to the dangerous summer heat. Pat was one of the most entertaining tour guides I’ve had in a long time. There was just no telling! 😉
