So an impromptu "Let's Eat" Review because we had to change our plans because the place we wanted to go and review closed at 230pm today so I'm improvising. We decided to grab a beer at Piedmont Brewery because so many of you said I had to try the cheese curds! Unfortunately, none of you told me which sauce to get! 😂🤣 So I ordered ALL 4 of them!
We had never been here before so in our usual fashion, we always order "Beer Flights" (get it? I'm a Flight Attendant so Beer Flights is just my natural "go to")
Sidenote on the beer, my fav is a toss up between the "Promised Land" which is a Lager and the "Life Of Sin" which is a Porter.
Let's talk "Cheese Curds"... ok... so, being that I travel for work and know that cheese curds are supposed to "squeak" when you eat them, I'd call these "mini mozzarella sticks" and they were very good and I loved them! (Would definitely recommend so please don't throw anything at me lol)
I tried all 4 sauces but, hands down, the Brown Gravy blew me away. I'm from Ireland and we are incredibly snobbish when it comes to our gravy. I asked Kate, our amazing Bartender, if the gravy is from a Mix. She quickly corrected me and informed me that the gravy is homemade!
It. Is. Incredible. I cannot recommend this enough.
I was sitting next to a Gentleman by the name of "Van". I later found out he was a cook here at Piedmont, among other places and that he was in numerous cooking competitions.
We talked about Collard Greens. When Kate (our Bartender) overheard us, she went and got me a sample because Van had actually cooked them. (Love her for that!)
Folks. Stop what you're doing. Get in your car and go to Piedmont and get yourself a huge plate of these greens.
They were the most amazing greens, ever. Van went on to tell me the process this place goes thru to make the perfect greens.
Whoda thunk that a brewery would get greens so right???
Breaking It down: Beer Flight with 4 beers = $10.50 Cheese Curds = $11.00 (Extra sauces are only .50 each)
Bottom Line: Tell your friends to meet you at Piedmont for some beers and good talks!
Next time we come, I'm ordering the Brisket, mashed potatoes and greens because Van told me that...
Read moreStopped through here bypassing with my brother in law as we were just out and about onna Saturday. We had immediate interest in the trash can fries when we were browsing the menu. But that was an appetizer... and the Cod plate that I was also planning to order came with waffle fries. So I asked if there was a way that I could substitute the trash can fries for the accompanied waffle fries. And there was.... so if the overload of potatoes is a concern for you.... unless you plan to split the Trash can fries with someone.... I recommend asking for that. Anyways, the plates came out and I had a generous offering of both the beer battered Cod and Trash Can Fries (both came on separate plates due to how I ordered them). The Cod was well cooked and the beer batter was a very nice consistency and golden brown. The trash can fries were stacked with bbq... and I didn't have to navigate any lumps of fat... it was just bbq goodness. Everything was hot n fresh to the table. Our waiter and waitress tended to us well at the bar. We washed our food down with Bud Light and Mich Ultra.... Sorry, I didn't partake in the unique offering of the craft beers. I like what I like in that respect. Definitely will be returning for another Saturday lunch... I didn't eat anything else all day. 10/10 must visit especially if you live in the...
