We had a appointment in Macon. Afterwards, it was lunch time. My friend Kitty and I were starving. We decided to go to H&H Soul food restaurant on Forsyth Street. This restaurant has been around since the 60's. Alot of famous artists have eaten there. Just to name a few, Allman Brothers, Otis Redding, Percy Sledge, Gladys Knight and the Lynyrd Skynyrd's band members and the Waldens. We had a great meal with fantastic service, and it was very inviting. They brought our iced tea with 🍋 right away, and it so hot outside, it really hit the spot. We had so much to choose from, so we started with deviled eggs and corn muffins. We munched on our appetizers, while studying the menu. Then we shared food so we could taste all the cuisine. She had beef tips and rice with gravy, fresh black eyed peas with snaps and fried okra. I enjoyed chicken fried steak with white gravy, lima beans and rice and cabbage. Everything they offer, is delicious and no worries, when it comes to the prices, quite reasonable. This historic soul food experience, is located on the corner of Forsyth Street and you will recognize it because of the recently painted mural of Momma Louise Hudson and her family. She owned and operated this establishment for over forty years. There is ample parking in front of the mural, with spaces for handicap access. When you enter the restaurant, you will be astounded by all the musical history that lines the walls. If you are searching for good soul food visit the H&H. Even the menu, has history of Momma Louise legacy. So make it a point to come to Macon and have a relaxing meal, while the music plays. Bring your family and friends. I am certain, you will enjoy the ambiance as well as the food. Good Appétit & God bless🕊 Carolyn Santos

Our family of 4 (2 adults + 2 kids) really enjoyed our stop for brunch at H & H. The restaurant is very much an open space, you can watch your food being cooked whilst you gaze at all the pictures on the walls which pay homage to various artists, especially The Allman Brothers Band. The service is great, with all the servers being very attentive and polite, they were happy to have to chat about the various dishes and really made you feel like part of a big family dining experience. The food, wow, it's exceptional! The fried chicken was tender, moist and crispy. The biscuits were light, flavourful and fluffy and paired with a sausage gravy which packed loads of flavour. The brisket had a wonderful Smokey BBQ flavour which didn't overpower the taste of the meat. All the vegetables were cooked to perfection and tasted so fresh, the fried green tomatoes were a delicious surprise (even for someone who doesn't eat tomatoes normally). And the country fried steak was immense. We'd love to visit again and try the meatloaf and some of their other dishes, it really was a struggle to try and pick what to eat with the amazing selection available. We ate one of the best meals of our trip here.

Hi Everyone! When you see me coming please do your job because I’m definitely running back to Google with the TEA! Upon visiting this restaurant, the first thing was literally no parking… except maybe 8 spots on the side but if the workers are parked there that leaves only two or three spots. Next upon entering, we were greeted with a fake smile and seated. Our waitress was terrible. She literally took our order and never came back and to see everyone else getting fine service was some straight up bs. Eventually a guy took over and he was very nice. My husband ordered like a sausage gravy biscuit with eggs. The flavor was just okay but the gravy was really thick, making it taste dry. I ordered the brisket hash thing. It was nothing but fat and burnt. Super greasy 🤮🤢. The homemade jelly was bitter and looked old. The toast itself was AMAZING! Last but not least the fried green tomatoes were crispy… no flavor at all but it ranked second in the food. I will never go back. This experience was an overall 3/10 and the toast is the only thing that made me give them this many stars. Btw I only kept the food so I could take a picture but it immediately went into the garbage!

Fantastic food, service and atmosphere! Just good ol' down-home soul food, made with love, the way it's supposed to be! I started with the amazing "soul rolls", egg rolls stuffed with fried chicken, collard greens and house-made pimento cheese, with a peach hot sauce drizzled over the top, simply delicious and worth the trip alone! Next up, I went with the EXCELLENT fried chicken, with equally excellent collards (they even catered to my request to put some extra pot liquor in the bowl for crumbing my corn bread into!) and mac & cheese, all of which were utterly delicious. As impressive as the food were the service and atmosphere, this place clearly has a lot of regular customers, some with their children who knew the servers and even got hugs from them when they came in. The building has an old school, but very clean and comfortable vibe, and the classic southern rock and blues music they played while I was there was also a nice touch. There's a REAL good reason why this place has been in business since 1959, if I actually lived in Macon I would be here all the time! HIGHLY recommended!!! Shane Handke Jacksonville, FL

This place is a little hard to find due to the odd street pattern so look for the white H&H sign over the door. Be careful where you park as not all spots in the small lot beside it are for the restaurant. We got here about 12:20 PM for lunch and there was no seating so plan accordingly. We waited about 10 minutes. That is a testament to the good food and friendly atmosphere. I got the smoked turkey with sides of butter beans and fried okra while my wife got the brisket with mac & cheese and deviled eggs. All the food was great. Both the brisket and the turkey were a bit dry, but still very good. The barbecue sauce was a bit on the spicy side for us. Still I would go back. The owners were originally associated with the Allman Brothers Band so there is a lot of memorabilia on the walls. Lunch for two was $23 buck. Kaila was our server and she was great. Eclectic place with good food. Recommended.

Im an Allman Brothers fan and I knew they are from Macon, GA so I thought I'd come thru and check things out. They called into this restaurant often and there are some cool picks of them on the walls. The restaurant has a wonderful vibe to it. True to form, the clientele is diverse. I had the 'Ramblin Man. Had to do it, it's one of my favorite songs. Anyway, It's something you don't get in restaurants these days. If you youngins want an experience in a restaurant like in the movies, this is a good place to check out. The food was great and everyone was really friendly. I enjoyed talking to the waitresses and the people at the tables near me. That's what it's all about after all. You can't not feel and miss the music history and see all the great memorabilia. A really cool mural on the wall as well outside. Check it out sometime.
