Art Gecko on Monroe — Attraction in Madison

When I think of this place, "art gallery" isn't the description that comes to mind... and for good reason. When I typically think of an art gallery, I think of a place to look at stuff I can dream of affording some day. Not the case with Art Gecko. Granted there is some furniture upstairs that is pricy (as it should be...some of the pieces are exquisite hand built artistic furniture), but many of the items are quite reasonably priced and have an international flair that just plain makes me happy. The owner must not pride himself on the integrity of his words. This shop claims to be fair trade, which upon a simple Google search into what they sell will get quickly show you that about half of those suppliers are NOT fair trade.
