We love to visit during the Nights Before Christmas event and see the gingerbread houses made by the local school kids. There is a good deal of general history and a decent Civil War display, too. Local inventors and industry are also represented. And a complete cottage is on display indoors.

If you're going to stay in Madison any length of time, this museum is a great way to get better acquainted with this unique town. Especially enjoyed the video and the floods & natural disasters exhibit.

Fabulous special exhibit on the art of dressmaking through the years. The regular exhibits are also wonderful! I highly recommend a visit here - for locals as well as visitors! This is a great venue for meetings and presentations. The Celtic Society Symposium...

Interesting museum with a great gift shop featuring lots of publications created by the local historical society.

The only down side was that a few exhibits were in process but it was still well worth visiting.

The attached railroad museum was...
