Galena Garlic Company — Local services in Madison

Having all of our kids with us in Madison meant that they could pick shops to visit. When our oldest, a culinary student, spotted the Galena Garlic Company we immediately pulled our golf carts over.

Galena Garlic Company, right on Main Street across from Analog Coffee & Records, is based in Galena, IL. Besides their flagship store in Galena they have locations in Geneva, IL, Madison, IN, Nashville, TN, and Grimsley, TN.

They specialize in olive oils, vinegars, seasonings, and even pastas, soups, sauces, and dressings. It’s a home-chef’s dream! 🫒🧄

My son spent no less than 45 minutes in the store, sampling almost every oil and vinegar they had. The store provided little sample cups for just such a thing.

The walls were covered with every imaginable spice, packaged in pouches to keep moisture out and to increase their shelf life. They even had a section of salt-free spices.

Eventually he settled on two vinegars and one oil, plus a jar of pickled garlic. He got the three small bottles for $25.

The next night he made Chicken Alfredo for dinner at home and used the oil & vinegar to make a dipping sauce for our bread. It was fantastic! 🥖

The seasonings, oils, vinegar, salt, pasta and other delicious treats are laid out in a pleasing and easy to locate fashion. The tastings of all the products is so alluring and helps in trying to refrain from buying one of everything! The staff member was enthusiastic, informative and made my shopping experience individualized and fun! I am sorry that I didn't get her name but I hope she is working in Madison, IN on my next visit. In the meantime, I'll use the internet to make my purchases....

If you love the flavors of natural wonders it don’t get any better than this. This store has the knowledge of how to bring out the best of garlic it brings it up to taste. It carries many products that are all of the same quality or better. I would highly recommend trying this place out . Money can buy you many things but not great taste it is created from the best with the skill experience...
