2nd Street Carriage House & Inn — Hotel in Madison

My wife of 36 years & I had a very relaxing 2-day stay at Sandy & Dick's 2nd Street Inn over our Oct. 8th anniversary. As soon as we arrived on the 7th Sandy was there to greet & provide us with a brief tour of the house. The first thing we noticed was how warm & cozy it was. Also evident was her attention to detail; all bathroom, kitchen, living & bed rooms were equipped with every comfort of home one would need. We found little touches of homespun decorations throughout the house. The kitchen contained every appliance & utensil a couple or small family would need & want for a short or long-term stay. Sandy provided us with a couple small plates of scrumptious goodies such as homemade cookies, brownies & banana bread. The king-size bed provided luxurious comfort that made getting up each morning very undesirable. And the thick, Turkish bathroom linens we used were simply wonderful. The location of the home couldn't have been any more centrally located when it came to exploring downtown Madison & the Ohio River. For guests able to get around on foot, it's proximity to most shops, restaurants & attractions was ideal. We used our car to get around town, but again, walking or renting a golf cart from one of the town's rental businesses is a perfect means of getting from point A to B. We were most impressed & fell in love with our accommodations. Staying only two nights in such a delightful setting made checking out very difficult. The only downsize to our visit involved the layout of the house. The proximity of the bathroom to our bedroom made using it during the night rather difficult due to the distance between the two. But this is coming from a couple who needs these rooms close together. In no way were we misled into thinking they were side-by-side; it simply never occurred to me to ask how close they were. Wonderful Visit in the 2nd Street Inn! We just returned from a girl’s trip to Madison and had a wonderful time staying in the 2nd Street Inn! The Inn is beautifully decorated with lovely antique furniture. The Master Bedroom is spacious with a super comfortable King size bed . There are two large bathrooms with big fluffy white towels, a cozy sitting room, a dining area, and a 2nd bedroom with twin beds. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything needed, and Sandy even left us some delicious homemade cookies, brownies, and coffee cake- along with the makings for coffee and cream! We absolutely loved sitting on the porch on four large comfy stuffed chairs surrounded by Sandy’s beautiful flower garden! It was very peaceful and relaxing! It was the perfect way to start our days with a cup of coffee…and end our days with a glass of wine! The Inn shares a large courtyard/garden with The Carriage House which is super cute and inviting, and would also be a great place to stay! The location of The 2nd Street Carriage House and Inn is ideal! It is just a couple of blocks from downtown Madison, as well as a couple of blocks from the beautiful Ohio River walkway and park.
