I recently visited the Red Rooster Coffee & Eatery in Madison, Indiana, and had a mostly great experience.

I tried to order a cappuccino, but was asked what size - which always raises a red flag for me. I prefer a traditional cappuccino with a fixed ratio of espresso, steamed milk, and foam, rather than a variable size.

So, I changed my order to an iced vanilla latte instead. It was delicious and well-made, with a good balance of flavors. However, I noticed they only put one shot of espresso in the small 12oz size, which might make it taste under-extracted.

Tip: Order the 16oz size if you want a well-balanced drink with a stronger espresso flavor.

The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, with rustic decor and comfortable seating. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, although I wish they had a better understanding of traditional coffee drinks.

Pros:

• Delicious iced vanilla latte • Cozy and inviting atmosphere • Friendly and knowledgeable staff • High-quality espresso machines

Cons:

• Only one shot of espresso in small 12oz size

Tips:

• If you're a coffee purist like me, you might want to stick with a simple latte or drip coffee • Order the 16oz size for a well-balanced drink with a stronger espresso flavor • Try the iced vanilla latte - it's a winner! • Support local businesses like the Red Rooster that prioritize quality...

Came here since the coffee shop I wanted to go to was closed. Atmosphere was cool, really liked the vibes of the place… until I placed my order. Got my latte rather quickly, took a sip and asked for a little more milk because it was too strong for my preference. Male barista got more milk for me but wasn’t happy about it. I kindly mentioned I had ordered a muffin too just thinking they had forgot, no big deal. He said it would be right out - which I found odd since they’re in the front display case. About 3-5 minutes later my muffin was brought out warmed after I had asked for it not to be when they asked me if I wanted it warmed while taking my order. I told the girl at the register I didn’t ask for it to be warmed, she wasn’t happy, male barista definitely wasn’t happy; honestly I frequent coffee shops everywhere I go and I’ve never been to a coffee shop where staff have attitudes when you ask for an extra splash of milk or to simply correct their mistake on your order😅Really hoped this just might be an off day and but after reading through the reviews this seems to be the norm here. Smile and do better. Two stars cause the muffin was good. Coffee was mediocre and had a...

Great little coffee shop with Wi-Fi and nice pastries, good quiche, scones and soups. The people are friendly and willing to make suggestions if you need help deciding. The view is of Madison's historic Main Street and it is located in a very nicely renovated historic building. It is on the same block as many shops including a fantastic resale designer furniture and home decor shop named Wow! What A Find that rivals any store in the big city at a fraction of the cost. They also sell fine antiques and found objects. Across the street is a very chic ladies boutique named Blush and it too is sophisticated and up to date in a great restored building. For those who like coffee and chocolates go to Cocoa Safari Chocolates for a fine selection of homemade treats! All an all the coffee shop and town make you feel at home and is a great destination. Very friendly staff complete the picture for a good break mid-way...

Really enjoyed my coffee and sandwich here. There were 3 nice looking coffee shops in Madison and I picked this one because it had a cooler looking sign (I've always enjoyed judging books by their cover). Inside it's quite nice, warm, clean and inviting. The staff was friendly, helpful and fast. Coffee (dark roast) was good though the staff didn't really know much about the coffees. I'd say it's a more food first kind of coffee place. No 3rd wave here. I also got a breakfast sandwich that was very good and they graciously let me substitute a pretzel bun/bagel. Highly recommend this as the bun has a nice crispness on the outside which pairs well with the soft filling. Great place to sit and watch people on the street at the bar or do work as I saw multiple people doing. They even had a more casual sitting area with a few comfy chairs and people chatting away.
