If you are looking to sell designer items, I would not recommend bringing them here. This previous Sunday I brought in a large MCM tote, as well as a few other additional designer items. When I dropped it off I let the worker know that all designer items included boxes, dust bags, and original tags. I stopped back to pick up my items and didn’t sell any of the designer items just because the price they offered wasn’t quite what I was looking for. When I got home I noticed an orange stain that look like foundation (maybe from someone’s fingers?) on the front. And then my original tags, with proof of the near $1,000 that I paid for the bag, was gone. Everything else was returned to me (dust bags, care cards, boxes) but not the tag for the most expensive item I brought in. I am so so sad, as this will impact my resale value of the bag. I also took photos of the bag before bringing it in, and have proof there was no stain on the front, as well as that the tags were included. I have been in contact with the staff and have received nothing other than “Yeah so I talked to the girl that did your buy, and she said that she put it back into the bag” except…. She didn’t… otherwise it would be there..? I’m honestly just quite confused about the situation, as it seems like they are trying to imply they had no fault in my property not being returned to me. I am waiting for the owner to give me a call later this week. But, where’s the protection for a seller when crucial pieces to the resale of a handbag are not returned to them? Or when as expensive item is returned to them with a stain? This is honestly so frustrating and I’m just so sad. Please don’t bring your designer stuff here, just sell it on Poshmark.
Update: It is nearly 2 weeks later and I have yet to hear anything from the owner. Probably not coming back here again.
Update #2: One month later. Still nothing from the owner, I guess they don’t care that they have an upset consumer, probably because they know they were wrong and instead of acknowledging it they are...
Read moreWhat a humiliating experience . . . I walked into the store and "signed in" to sell. I'd bought some items from Style Encore before and enjoyed that experience, but never tried to sell. I brought in A LOT of clothes --- two big bags filled with things from Banana Republic, Anthropologie, The Limited, Ann Taylor, Nanette Lepore, etc. I even had two blouses from Chloé (a gift from Paris) and a pair of heels from Stuart Weitzman. There were a few things from Target and other stores with less "name brand appeal" on top --- I don't know about the age of any of it, but I do know that nothing looked worn. I take anything with a slight defect to Goodwill. Most of the things I brought, I'd only worn once (some, not at all). I expected they'd take half of the items. I waited a half-hour (not very long at all), and responded to a text saying that they'd finished evaluating my things. When I approached the counter, however, they said that they'd only found one pair of shoes (not the Weitzman pair) that they wanted to buy for $2.68. I (very kindly) said, "Oh, really? Wow. Okay. Out of everything? That's it?" The salesperson said, "Yeah, well. Unfortunately, we're looking for current styles --- two years or less --- and, anyway, your things weren't very good." It was humiliating! People around the counter looked up. A teenager laughed. I've never been so embarrassed. I ended up using the two dollars as credit against a pair of Gap shorts that I'd been carrying (they're more than two years old, by the way --- I looked it up). I wouldn't have bought them if I wasn't shocked and made to feel 'less.' While I enjoyed my previous experiences, I don't think I'll return after this. I'm looking for more current styles, straight from the (more sensitive,...
Read moreGo there to buy, not as much to sell.
I've been there a few times. When I brought in some items I had purchased from an online retailer early in the season that didn't fit right over my bust, I was informed that they were not current enough. It's hard to see how something like a beach cover-up brought in, in May, was not current to the season.
I've just had several disappointing interactions with their process. The staff are all polite, though sometimes a little more absorbed in their own conversations than is the norm in retail, but these staff members are hired to be thinkers and to make business judgements, so I can see how they would need more intellectual stimulation than a standard retail clerk.
The store is bright, clean, attractive, and well organized. The dressing rooms are plentiful, clean, and secure.
I'm actually giving the store an extra star for a total of 3 stars, because if I were only purchasing from them, I'd probably give them 5 stars. The store is everything I look for in a retail location. It's just not so great on the purchasing...
