I ordered and paid last February, 2 large strawberry tres Leche sheet cakes @ $95 each (1 serves 45pp), 1 round 12” $42 & 1 Round 6” $32, for 113 people, total $264.00 which Antonio wrote up himself on my receipt with his drawing of the cakes and the prices on each cake he drew. He delivered to the wedding last Friday 2 medium sheet cakes ($60 each) with the two round tiered cakes. I sent him a text that I received 2 medium sheet cakes instead of 2 large & asked if he could give me a credit. He replied with a question mark. I set up an appointment & met with him explaining what I received pointing to the store models with the size and price & showed him my pictures of the medium sheet cakes at the wedding and my receipt, that I was overcharged $70. He kept saying we made the cake for 113 people and that’s what you paid for, that he changed the 6” round top of the wedding cake to an 8”or 10”. I said that didn’t come close to a $70 overcharge and that the sheet cakes were downsized. I asked him for a credit of some kind to make it right & he said no. I told him that I love to support small businesses but that I would have tell everyone I know what happened & word of mouth can affect his business all for not wanting to compensate me a free cake to make it right, a small ask for a pricey overcharge. The cake was on the dry side & skimpy strawberry filling. Monona bakery has a very moist tres Leche. I will give my business to them in the future, a kind & family owned bakery and restaurant. Also, I had asked him for very small colorful fresh flowers & strawberries/blueberries on the top tier and brought him lavender to add to it, along with some flowers & fruit on 2 corners of each sheet cake. There were LARGE Lillies and medium size flowers all over the cakes and lavender sticking up with the stems like trees in another area, with a strawberry here and there. Instead of a white whip cream cake with lavender writing on the sheet cakes, and an all white tiered round cakes as requested, there were all different colors and designs, stars & edges on the round cakes. For the longest time - I only stopped at Pan y Pan for their bakery (which takes me back to my childhood in south San Antonio, when my Dad would take me to this little panaderia every Sunday). I hesitated to order from their lunch menu (otherwise known as El Poblano Mexican Restaurant) because I have been let down by many "Mexican" restaurants in Madison. Let's just say - I have been such a FOOL for waiting this long to experience the cuisine @ Pan y Pan!!! FRESH INGREDIENTS- AUTHENTIC DISHES - GREAT VALUE - GREAT SERVICE - FRIENDLY ATMOSPHERE - CLEAN VENUE! Little did I know this unsuspecting restaurant, that used to be a Popeye's, held such treasure! I had a feeling it might because most restaurants close within a few years of opening and this place has been here since I moved to this side of town. My family and I have been loyal customers to Pan & Pan since they opened up. However, recently I ordered a cake and the decorations that they told me I was going to have didn't happen and the text on the cake was incorrect ( didn't have anything to do with the occasion). When the owner found out the the cake was wrong, instead of apologizing to me he got mad and blamed me in a very rude way.
