Just moved to Maple Grove and so excited to find an independent, locally owned coffee place!! Not only that but they have a variety of gluten-free, vegan baked goods!!! This feels like a unicorn just about anywhere, let alone Maple Grove.
I got the chocolate chip banana bread and it was so delicious - practically like cake! The flavor was ‘lighter’ which indicated to me the presence of the vegan ingredients. As a recently known gluten intolerant person, it didn’t ‘taste’ gluten free if you know what I mean. Also very moist and surprisingly not crumbly! Also got the pistachio matcha latte. I’d never had a pistachio latte or pistachio milk but it was delicious! Not as sweet as I was expecting but it was a great addition to the very sweet banana bread. They have a large menu and offer a variety of traditional and more unique drinks as well as a variety of milk options including alternative milks for us lactose intolerant people.
They also sell bagged coffee beans. From their website it looks like all their coffee is ethically sourced in coordination with local and independent coffee farms. So fair trade, direct trade friendly.
We sat inside where there is a smattering of 2 person tables, in the wonderful AC. There are 2 patios, one on either end of the cafe, both with sunny and shaded spots depending on time of day. Patios have larger tables. There’s free parking on the non-Main St side of the cafe though it’s for a number of businesses. We went at 3p on a Friday and both easily found parking right outside...
Read moreI have been silent for a long time, but now I will say, because I want to get a quality product for my money. I came from Europe and decided to find a coffee shop in this city, based on good reviews. I give a good rating to the atmosphere even because of the small number of free seats. Your espresso is very, very sour with a very strange aftertaste!!! I do not even feel the necessary slight bitterness. All drinks prepared on the basis of espresso are sour!!!! Even having ordered a latte, we realized that it also has a sour taste.. how is it possible... Having taken the first sip of good espresso - you do not want to close your eyes or spit it back out. It should be nice, pleasant and soft. Good espresso has a dense, enveloping velvety note. After you have drunk a good espresso - usually there is a rich and sweet aftertaste, which can last from 3 minutes to 2 hours! Good espresso is always balanced. It's not too sour and not too bitter. Always leaves only a good aftertaste... We took some cakes... very, very cloyingly sweet, that you don't even feel the taste of the ingredients, only starch on your teeth and sugar... aren't there any good dessert suppliers??...
Read moreI was so excited to try this shop out after a trip with my son to the orthodontist, we love coffee shop dates! Unfortunately, the service was lacking despite 4-5 people on staff (impatient, seemed annoyed with us even though there was no line) and after order was taken the guy making the toast came over and asked me all the same questions I had just finished answering about my order so I repeated it over the guy who actually took my order. Then we get in the car and down the road and open my box to find a tomato that appeared to be unwashed with sticker actually still stuck on the produce and face up! 😳 Clearly not watching what they are making and how they are handling food, I didn’t eat the tomatoes nor enjoy. I had also bought a mocha and two cake pops plus a juice - disappointed, we will not be back. I do hate to leave a negative review but if I was the owner I would want to know. Help is hard to find but this is basic cleanliness and service. Hope it...
