I was curious to see what this was like, since Greek restaurants are not plentiful in this area of the metro. I was going to order for take-out, but decided at the last minute to eat in. It was well after the lunch hour, and there was only one other couple in there, so staying socially distant wasn't a problem.
I ordered the gyros sandwich - the classic, not the supreme. The very pleasant person behind the counter suggested the avgolemono soup, so I ordered that. It was served quickly. It was arranged nicely on a tray with wedges of pita bread fanned out to go with the soup. The gyros sandwich was wrapped in foil for easy handling.
The gyros was tasty, with a generous portion of meat, and the tzatziki sauce probably the best I've had. My only complaint about the sandwich was that the meat was a bit on the cold side -- but since the meat is sliced off a skewer, which is over heat, I can only put this down to the fact that it was a cold day, and it cooled down while I ate the soup.
The soup was creamy, and plentiful in terms of chicken and rice - and the rice texture was perfect, not overcooked and mushy like it can sometimes be. But it seemed a little short on lemon. It had an aroma of lemon, but there didn't seem to be enough lemon taste in the soup itself.
I had a glass of water from the machine, and it did NOT taste good. I'm not sure if it was the water, or if there was some residual cleaning solution taste, but I didn't drink more than a sip.
The restaurant was clean, the people were very helpful and friendly, the portions were more than generous, and the prices were reasonable. Despite the lack (to my taste) of lemon in the soup, I'd definitely try it again. It's not a 5, but more than a 4. If there was an in between rating, I'd give it a 4.7. But since there isn't, I'll err on...
Read moreI was so excited to find a place that might have proper lamb kabobs and took the chance.
Australian Lamb Souvlaki and Steak Souvlaki
Soooo happy I took that chance! I've been here twice and it's consistently fabulous! My first visit I got the lamb kabobs, of course, and it was perfectly flavored, tender, and great portions! The salad, delightfully greek! Loved the rice pilaf with the taziki sauce, flatbread...
When I say I CAN'T say enough about this place, believe me, I have been looking for my ideal greek food restaurant, I've been to several over the years and if you follow me, you have seen my previous reviews of places serving "lamb kabobs".
Down to the location. Super charming, my first visit was dining in. I was not expecting to have the food delivered to my table with real plates and silverware. Idk what I was expecting but I was like OOOOOO, then you leave your dishes on the table. Not full service restaurant, makes me think of it like a hybrid fast food and sit in restaurant. Love it!
My second visit was pickup to go order and they packaged my meal with lots of care. And was absolutely correct. I was sad they were unable to do lamb but I get it, sadly. So bonus, I tried their steak and it was stellar as well!
This is the best Greek food I have had in 10 years! Worth drive if you aren't near and seriously, amazing. If you hate it, go away. Haha. I was so excited that I forgot to take photo! Next visit I'll have to...
Read moreI think we have done takeout gyros from this place years ago and found them agreeable, so it was a bit disappointing to be so disappointed in our choices tonight . Tonight we got the steak souvlaki with rice, a Greek salad, and the feta fries. Aside from the steak the rest of the food was underwhelming. Like below average to maybe mid. -The fries were undercooked and just doused in cheese. -A greek salad should be flavorful on its own without protein, but this one was pretty bland and needed some herbs or protein. -The steak was amazing, we were legitimately surprised since it came out after we had finished the other dishes -the rice was fine -I’m going to go out on a limb and say that the pita was provided by Sysco or another general food provider, it was not worth the calories when it’s served as a snack wedge and not a gyro wrapper.
There was a woman eating there who told us it was her first time there when she asked us if customers need to bus their own dishes since there aren’t any trash cans visible from the dining area. After she left I looked over at her tray. She had eaten maybe a third of it and just left the rest behind. Didn’t even bring it home for leftovers.
My husband keeps apologizing for vetoing my suggestion of naf naf for...
