Staff is super friendly, BUT I felt somewhat deceived. After a couple of appointments getting cancelled by Banner. Note that that these were booked 9 months ahead. I didn’t realized that getting an initial visitor doctor’s appointment is very difficult here in Tucson (until I heard the same complaint from a coworker). I felt lucky being able to reschedule it and not have to wait another 9 months, although it was not my preferred location. My appointment was really early in the morning, but receptionist was really friendly and made me feel at ease. Wait was not long at all, and the doctor was nice, thorough and seem knowledgeable. I came hoping to just have a short talk, get a baseline labs ordered since it’s been a while since i’ve seen a doctor. I left thinking, i don’t mind the 30 minute drive to go to this facility and considering it as my regular doctor… Until I got the bill. All along I’m trying to start a preventative medical care, which i understood was 100% covered by my insurance. Initial reason was due to a medical history that I disclosed which the doctor asked from me (not me complaining about it). Mind that these were borderline abnormal levels that are currently managed by diet. Tried to file a claim with my insurance, but they say the visit was coded a regular office visit and not preventative per existing condition. A code review was initiated i personally called Banner, since the insurance was having a difficult time contacting this office or the Banner billing office. The result was the same, but now they claim it is coded as non preventative or non wellness visit because it was the “initial” visit. Any annual “wellness” visit after that would be considered preventative. I’m not sure about that, but I don’t see how one can start a preventive care without initiating it. I’m glad I finally got my foot in the door, but really disappointed with...
Read moreIf I could give negative stars to Dr. Doe I would. I’m truly upset with the treatment and lack of professionalism this Dr practice. I’ve had a bad experience with him prior but that’s the least of my worries at the moment. Fast forwarding to Dec 23rd. I had to make an appointment for a large swelling in my next that was causing high fevers, nausea, vomiting, and headaches that had been happening for two weeks straight. Dr Doe had said it was a swollen Salivary gland and not a lymph node. He said there’s not much to do but maybe some blood work and to continue to take the antibiotics that urgent care had prescribed a week prior and recommended a follow up Jan. 30th and was let go with no explanation, medication or treatment plan. On Dec. 27 I couldn’t take the pain and fevers anymore so I had to visit the Emergency Department at Northwest Hospital, right away the Dr noticed the swelling was highly infected and immediately ordered a CT Scan. He quickly administrated heavy narcotics for the pain and antibiotics for the infection. The imaging showed a huge abscess. Northwest then contacted banner medical center and referred me to an E.N.T specialist. The following day they sent me in an ambulance to banner and continued to administer the same narcotics, antibiotics and added steroids for the inflammation. 72 hours later I had to get surgery done before the swelling and abscess interfered with my breathing and swallowing. Hoping to get release by Dec 31st. Dr Doe has been the worst dr I have ever attended. From little to no communication skills to being completely wrong on his treatment plan. Just really...
Read moreThe PCM I was given put in the wrong referral for me when I explicitly said numerous times which doctor and establishment I would like to be see with/ at for my referral. I thought, whatever, he’s human and made a mistake. The real night mare was then working with the referral department. After numerous phone calls to the referral department and promises from them to resolve the issue it still did not get resolved because they simply did not do their jobs and I was denied medical care I urgently needed with this referral because they couldn’t simply switch my referral code. Spoke with the director of the referral department and she displayed very poor customer service skills to me as I explained the issue and I was left truly shocked she had the position that she has. When speaking with a director you usually have an expectation that they know basic customer service skills and how to deal with situations like this. I am hugely disappointed with my experience as a patient and customer at this clinic. Be demanding if you have to work with this referral department and DO NOT trust that they will do their job correctly the first...
