Went Mid June 2021. 50 min. Stress relief massage for $175 by Alex Galvis was very relaxing. No, life changing. Warm foot wrap, relaxing music, completely respectful and comfortable. My husband received a 50 min massage with CBD oil from Isora Bellcharm for $225 and said he is ready for another already. We had access to the absolutely temple like lobby, lounge, outside hot tub, body temperature mineral salt pool, and regular pool. I wish there had been shade over the mineral pool. Even just a part of it. You can just walk to the pool attendant and request any cabana free. The roasted tomato salsa and guacamole were amazing. Make sure you request “nonalcoholic” drinks not “virgin.” One of the attendants missed that detail. We didn’t make a fuss just raised a hand and ordered from a different attendant. They do not provide sunscreen. Lisa & Liz the ladies attendants were amazing at guiding and orienting us to our day at the spa. I took the desk clerks advice and rotated from the sauna to the steam room (which is dripping in eucalyptus and worked wonders for my dry eyes), then a very quick plunge into the cold plunge pool (50 degrees) and lots of gasping. Then into the hot tub to relax. I repeated until I reached my limit of 15 min. In each hot space. I literally meditated the whole time. I just closed my eyes and breathed sixty times. Only three others came in! The limit in June 2021 was 2 people in each space. I relaxed sometimes just in a robe, sometimes just in a suit. I could have gone naked since it was only girls but everyone wore a suit so I did too. I showered three times as they provide everything you need including hair styling supplies shaving razors, towels, deodorant, wash cloths, shampoo, conditioner and body wash which is also all available at the resort desk. My husband is in love with the shaving cream. All were filled with essential oils. It was my first spa day so I didn’t miss the food in the lounge but one woman commented that it was missed. Covid was not ignored, with extra cleaning, one way stairs, plastic partitions, etc. only one of the massage chairs of the four in the foyer and 10 pack in the area were plugged in with a remote control to activate them. Complementary water was in the lounge and the attendants came around to check on us in the sauna and brought more water bottles. Heaven! Everyone was extremely polite even when I spoke too loud and accidentally sat in someone else’s reserved cabana. They let me leave and come back to drag my hubby in. They gave me a pass card which you need to enter from the pool area. I was there from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm. I signed the bill at check out. It was worth every penny of $400 for our 20th anniversary. It will probably be 20yrs before we repeat it but hopefully not before our next massage. The shop was lovely but overpriced. Debra the desk clerk was very attentive. She answered all of my questions and even stepped away from the desk to chat with me about the local offerings and give me advice on how to enjoy them. I felt a connection of friendship with her as I told her my story of being the mother of seven and it being my first trip to the spa for our 20th anniversary. She taught me how to use the dehydrated towelettes and still did not miss a beat in attending those who needed her assistance. What an amazing group of people and an amazing spa. Thank...
Read moreMy husband and I came to the JW Marriott to celebrate a baby moon. I made reservations for the spa for each of us to receive a massage while we were there for the weekend. This was our very first time at a JW Marriott and my first massage while pregnant at 9 months pregnant. I’ve had massages many times prior to this weekend, so I expected a high quality for the name and price we were paying.
My husband received paperwork to fill out two days before our arrival and I received paperwork two hours before my massage.
Upon arriving to the spa to check in, the woman at the front desk was very dismissive and did not make us feel very welcome. We were directed to walk upstairs to access the locker room area where there was a gentleman outside of the men’s locker room waiting for my husband‘s arrival who to give him a comprehensive tour of his area. I was greeted by no one and was not given a tour at all of the women’s area once I walked in.
The robe I received felt like they took a bedsheet and sewed it together. The women’s hair care area had no amenities readily available. There was a small sign that said a bamboo brush and razor upon request. I’ve been in different spas, that cost much less, that provided a multitude of cosmetic products for free, including cotton balls, Q-tips, mouthwash, disposable combs, you name it. I’ve also been in spas where the robes were much more luxurious. The robes in the hotel room were nicer than the Spa robes. The waiting area provided water and a small container of mixed nuts. Again, I’ve been to much cheaper spas that provided small handheld snacks such as pastries and cookies while you waited.
Once I was finally taken back for my massage, it felt very rushed. There was very little time spent on any body part and I felt like I was in and out less than the 50 minute massage. Once my massage was complete, I immediately walked to my locker to check the time and it was the 50 minute mark of how long the massage should have taken. So I knew right there that I did not get a full 50 minute experience that I paid for.
My husband had a completely different experience. He said his masseuse was very attentive and took her time on the focus spots that he pointed out. He said it was one of the best massages he ever received. He said his robe was luxurious, and in the men’s area, they had readily available razors and combs.
Once our massages were finished, we originally thought about lounging at the spa pool, but I truthfully wanted to leave the area completely. What turned it around for me, was the amazing chef at the pool! I was starving and we asked the waitress at the pool if they served food and she said the kitchen was closed. The chef overheard and made a statement to her that it’s important for me to eat, especially because I’m pregnant. So he personally opened the kitchen back up for my husband and I. The food was absolutely amazing! Some of the best we had all weekend! The waitress was so attentive and completely turned the entire experience around for me.
If we were to come back to the hotel, I would not go back to that spa. The amount of money we spent did not feel worth it, I did not feel valued walking into that Spa, and the massage was one of the worst ones I’ve...
Read moreI cannot think of a better way to spend the day, this spa was impeccable in nearly every way. We were greeted and shown around the spa and offered water upon entry. The men & women are totally separated, except for the sort of relaxation area setup outside the two locker rooms, which is open below to the front desk area. The locker rooms are kept neat & tidy, and offer steam room, sauna, showers, hot tub & cold plunge (42 degrees 🥶). There’s enough to do here for probably 45 minutes - 1 hour. We were unable to use the outdoor area as it was a windy, rainy day. We will be back for that, however! My wife and I got the facial treatments, and both very much enjoyed them. This couple with the amenities of the spa, really makes it a great place to enjoy at least a few hours. Had we been able to use the outdoor area we most certainly would have stayed longer.
Overall they create a very relaxing atmosphere with plenty of service. There are many restaurants in the grounds to get a bite before or after. The beach area is large and full of lounge chairs.
With a spa appointment you are able to enjoy the facilities all day and also join yoga on the beach, you can also come and go...
