The Dunes has quite the array of shopping centers in its area. To name most of them: REI, Target, Michael's, Bed Bath & Beyond, Best Buy, Kohl's, and a movie theater. There might be one or two stores I'm missing, but they have almost everything you need...save two key stores:

They need a grocery store, especially with the booming housing development in the area. They need restaurants. There are (as of this writing) zero restaurants here...unless you count Target's food court or the movie theater's popcorn.

Once they get those two things, and if I still live in the area, I'll edit this post up...

Nicer housing development in Marina California on the site of old Fort Ord. Houses have small yards but bigger than many developer homes. Shea usually has good customer service and reliability of product. Not far from the beach, walking distance, and a short drive to the Monterey peninsula. Decent location...
