Celebrating my promotion surrounded by family and friends at Brass Tap in Marina was nothing short of unforgettable. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere set the perfect tone for what would become one of the most memorable nights of my life. Brass Tap has always been known for its lively yet welcoming vibe, but on this special evening, it truly felt like home. The combination of good food, great drinks, and the laughter of loved ones created an energy that made the night exceptional. The first thing that stood out was the seamless setup. Karl, who coordinated everything, deserves an enormous thank you for making the night such a success. From arranging the tables to ensuring everything ran smoothly behind the scenes, Karl’s attention to detail took all the stress off my shoulders. I was able to simply enjoy the night without worrying about logistics, which made it all the more meaningful. His professionalism and effort truly set the stage for an amazing celebration, and I can’t thank him enough. The food and drinks lived up to Brass Tap’s stellar reputation. With so many options to choose from, everyone found something they loved. From craft beers to cocktails, the selection was wide enough to please every guest. The appetizers were a hit, and the main dishes were hearty and satisfying, keeping the energy high throughout the night. Every bite and sip added to the celebration, and it was obvious that the staff took pride in ensuring quality and consistency. What made the night truly special, though, was being able to share it with the people closest to me. Looking around the room and seeing my family and friends enjoying themselves was the highlight of the evening. Promotions are milestones worth celebrating, but they mean even more when shared with those who have supported you along the way. The space at Brass Tap was perfect for both conversation and celebration, offering the right balance of intimacy and fun. The staff’s service was exceptional from start to finish. They were attentive, friendly, and efficient, never letting a glass stay empty or a plate sit unattended for long. Their efforts didn’t go unnoticed and added to the smooth flow of the evening. The staff worked seamlessly alongside Karl to ensure every guest felt valued, which amplified the celebratory atmosphere. As the night went on, the laughter grew louder, the toasts became more heartfelt, and the memories created became ones I will carry with me for years. It was more than just a party it was a chance to pause, reflect, and appreciate how far I’ve come, while also looking forward to what lies ahead. In every way, my promotion party at Brass Tap exceeded expectations. The combination of a great venue, excellent food and drinks, top-notch service, and, most importantly, the presence of loved ones, created a celebration I will never forget. A heartfelt thank you to Brass Tap and especially to Karl for orchestrating such a perfect evening. If anyone is looking for the ideal place to host a celebration, I can confidently say Brass Tap in Marina is the place to be.

It was trivia night. It was super loud. Could hardly hear the waitress, and had to shout to tell her our order. I don't recall our waitress giving her name, but we ordered. Easy requests, but the kitchen was not going to substitute. Even if it was an upcharge, we would have been fine. Chips and guacamole, lacking salt. The chips had cracked black pepper on them, odd. Maybe a sprinkle of something else would have been fine. Brussel sprouts were good, a tad greasy but better than what their previous menu mentioned how they were to be prepared. The cooks were heavy on the pre grated parmesean since it didn't adhere to the sprouts The weekender drink tasted alright. It was either weak or vodka was masked by the sweetness... I was told the water tasted heavily chlorinated, I had iced tea masked with lemon. The first order was going to be the Asian chicken sandwich, but they would not substitute a grilled chicken. My friend just does not like fried, but nope could not substitute. She ended up with the chicken tacos instead. Her hubs ordered the smoked brisket tacos, which he liked. I got the ribeye sandwich, which was new on the menu. Waitress said it was released yesterday. "Sliced ribeye served with crispy onions on a garlic with spicy mayo toasted hoagie roll." (Something along those lines). It was served with garlic fries. I asked for the $1 substitute for crispy Brussels and mayo on the side. My order was last to come out. I had been asked what temperature I wanted my steak, and I said medium rare. It came out well done. If it was a ribeye, it had been severely trimmed down. It could have barely been maybe 8-10 ounces before cooking. Minimal fat, texture was that of ribeye, but trim was that of a new york. $19... They would do well to stop by the Crown and Anchor in Downtown Monterey and order the NY Steak sandwich to see how to do it. Maybe Brass Tap should just call it a steak sandwich, then people's expectations won't be so high. I'm expecting nice marbling and juicy steak. I was expecting well-done pieces of beef. My idea of sliced ribeye means they would have seared the steak on both sides and finished it off. Let it rest, and then sliced it and splayed it out on the hoagie. I asked for the spicy mayo on the side, they went heavy-handed on the mayo. All I could taste was the mayo on the sandwich. I ended up having more hoagie than steak. I didn't even consume the other half of the hoagie, I just ate the meat out. What crispy onions? They were lacking also, kind of reminded me of the bagged ones you get at Costco. Eating here was due to convenience since my friends were staying local up the road. Luckily, there are many restaurants in the Monterey area to choose from.

Let’s start by getting the reason for the mid level rating out of the way. My gal, son, and I stopped in for happy hour on 8/1/23. Happy hour stars at 4pm. Our check states we began ordering at 4:01. Even on our receipt it says that my gal ordered the drink of the week, which was advertised as $8 during happy hour. We were charged $13. We noticed when we got home and checked the receipt. My gal, being the pit bull that she is, called and asked for a refund. We were assured that my card would be refunded the $5. It’s been nearly 45 days and we haven’t been refunded. Now, please understand that $5 isn’t a big deal, even in these challenging financial times. What is more important is that if it happened to us, it obviously happened to anyone else that ordered that drink because the register is programmed for that drink at that price. It only takes twenty people to order that drink during happy hour to rob their clientele of $100. And that’s probably an underestimate. Multiply it weekly, monthly, or annually? You get the point. Secondly, if your establishment makes a mistake, that’s okay. But when you assure your clients that the mistake will be remedied, follow through. Losing the faith of your clientele is poison for your business. Otherwise, the waitstaff were very friendly and professional. The restaurant was clean and had a good vibe. The food was good as well. The beer menu felt like the exact same menu as any BJ’s would have, with craft beer from larger, national brewers with a handful of local stalwarts. Not a bad selection for your average Joe, but beer snobs probably won’t find anything they haven’t tried before. Final thoughts? The location is great if you’re going to catch a movie or if you’re a student on campus. As for the Brass Tap, I hope the upper brass realize that bad word of mouth kills business. And this isn’t a bad review. It’s an honest account of what happened. I hope the Brass Tap succeeds and stays in business for decades to come. But I also hope they charge their patrons correctly and follow through on promises to fix any mistakes that may be made in the future.

If you sit on the side without the TVs, it's very very dark. Also the chairs are so square that the points on the chairs are sharp! If you sit in the area with the TVs, it's nice and bright and the seating is comfortable. Also love all the TVs and variety of sports.

Food is decent, but not anything great. Servers are inexperienced and careless. I had so much hope for this restaurant coming to Marina. We need good restaurants here and was so excited when it opened.

This is our second time here. The first time, it was so busy and the kind server was just overwhelmed and we knew they were working out the links. She was very attentive and empathetic as we had waited over an hour for our lunch.

About a month later, you'd think it would be better. Due to the server's inexperience, she didn't ask proper questions to clarify my order. I asked for a side of cauliflower WITH my entree and the server ASSUMED it was a full order and blamed me for the misunderstanding. She said, "the way I said it was like it was an appetizer. That's how I clarified. I told her she never confirmed a full order otherwise I would have corrected her. Again, she said "well, the way I said it was an appetizer, let me go talk to my manager." I told her she never asked and I clearly added it to my order. She came back and said "because it was a miscommunication, I can take it away and being back a side and charge you for a side." Even though it was her error, she tried to justify the full order, asked to take it back and then reorder a "side" size. Totally rediculous. Never once apologized for the "miscommincation". She went as far to explain that the tacos came with a side of chips and there was no option for a side, so she assumed it was an appetizer. We literally had to ask her to stop and let her know we no longer wanted the side. She then tried to order it and I had to say "I definitely don't want any cauliflower". Side note: her description of how they cook it in the "turbo chef" was terrible, but I just wanted to give it a try. Big mistake!

My tacos came out cold 15 minutes before my families' entrees arrived. I had finished my dinner before their food came out.

I had to remind her about my son's soda after me and my husband had finished half our drinks. She gave him a soda with very little ice. My husband ordered a vodka soda and she brought him a vodka on the rocks, with no soda. When we asked her for the soda, she said "that's why I asked you if wanted it on the rocks." We had to ask for our silverware after we got our appetizer and my beer wasn't even in a chilled glass.

She never apologized for any of the errors. I guess that's what makes it so frustrating. For as many years as I have been in the service industry, I can't say I have ever blamed a customer or justified an error. I really can't even say I have experienced this anywhere else.

The bad part is, I talked my husband into going back to try it again. He had no interest in returning as he had read the bad reviews.

It's so disappointing that a restaurant that has so much potential will probably fail.

As we were getting ready to leave, one of the servers was frustrated because she didn't get her break and the manager had already left. She ended up taking her break and eating at the bar.

Just a very very strange vibe with terrible service. You can tell it's not managed well and the manager doesn't care. She was wearing a hoodie and pled her head out of the kitchen a...

Last weekend decided to try marinas new sports bar. Parking was very easy. Walked in with greed by The Host and that is a serious Plus in my book. I'm in hospitality and food and wine industry. Ask the host if I could sit out side in the Green turf area and his response stated that you can only have drinks on the Green turf and no food and he stated they were short-staffed that is bs and you shouldn't be telling the customer that. To find out later on after having to call several times the next day no one picked up the phone and call the day after that to finally able to speak to a manager and the reason why people don't eat outside on the Green turf area because of all the construction going on and the birds. I politely explain to her that the construction stops 4:00pm and on the weekends they're not working this is one of the reasons why I picked the new place also being inside there was too many people and the noise level was getting a little excessive for me and I was starting to get a headache. I was there for at least 2 hours. There was definitely a shift change at the bar. I can tell there were too many bartenders working the area and not paying attention to the customers when they were wanting to close out. I waited 8 minutes before having to get someone's attention and it wasn't the original bartender that took my original order either. My Alvarado beer was cold that was basically the best thing about this new place the food was not hot enough the grilled cheese brisket the cheese wasn't even melting it had the flavors but just was not hot enough. The same thing goes for the loaded tater tots. The seats at the bar were comfortable more than I expected. Talk to some customers that have been to the place a couple of times already and they weren't thrilled about the quality of the food and originally they were able to sit out on the Green turf when The brass tap first opened. When I spoke with one of the managers I highly recommend that her and her staff go to some of the other bars and restaurants to do research where they have outdoor seating and down by the ocean were they have a lot more birds to deal with and they have staff to come and pick up the leftover food trays and bust the tables. But what really irritate me not being told that there was a shift change for a different bartenders and having to wait 8 minutes to close out and then I had to wait another 4 minutes to get my change. then to find out that they charged my credit card without my signature which I do not authorize them to I hand them my card just for identification purposes and I gave them cash. Fortunately the manager but I had to call back today's after she gave me a full refund but this type of thing should never happen to begin with. And there's no way to identify which bartender you have because there are no name tags. My friends send me to new places I'm in this industry and I have very high standards. I will not be coming back and my friends and family will not be coming back to this establishment not until I can eat on the green astro...
