If this library were a book, it’d be Fifty Shades of Disappointment. From the moment you walk through the doors, you’re met with all the charm of Miss Havisham’s decaying parlor. The staff? They’re like Lady Catherine de Bourgh from Pride and Prejudice—condescending, dismissive, and acting as though their job is some Herculean task only they are qualified to endure. They speak about patrons with the kind of disdain that would make Mr. Darcy’s early remarks about Elizabeth Bennet sound like poetry.
If you enjoy being judged like Hester Prynne in The Scarlet Letter or feeling as unwelcome as Heathcliff at Thrushcross Grange, this is the library for you. For everyone else, I recommend seeking solace in a bookshop—or at least a library that doesn’t treat you like a Dickensian orphan begging for scraps.
Oh, and your shared restroom space isn't revolutionary it's a bladder infection waiting to happen. I don't want my 12-year-old daughter to step out of the stall to wash her hands next to a 16 year old boy or 30 year old man.
The only people who are nice: chick with the accent, I think Australian and the gentleman that would come out of the interworking of the library if a complaint or something of the...
Read moreWho doesn’t like a library? Beautiful, new, and spacious. I went to spend time there with a 14 month old. I appreciate the accommodations for small children- train tables, toddler play space, the little play areas next to the computers. Very nice! I can imagine bigger kiddos would love the space too.
What I didn’t love was the overly annoyed librarian who chastised me for letting the baby play without shoes on. Said that children are required to wear shoes; that it’s a library rule. However, I wasn’t able to find anywhere the rule was posted. I don’t have an issue with kids being expected to wear shoes (even though beginning walkers learn better without). I merely have a problem with the dismissive tone she used. Four or more other librarians were in the space on/off while we were there. No one else had anything to...
Read moreI used to enjoy going to this library almost weekly with my son. One day I got a bill for a book I returned in great condition (at least 2 copies of this book were at this library). The note said the book had paint damage and I was being charged the full price of the book. Confused, I went to the library to ask to see the damaged book. Jill could not produce the damaged book and then became combatative towards me and accused me of lying. Then she proceeded to be rude and dismissive to her coworker who was trying to help. She actually swatted her away and harshly told her to hush. She begrudgingly took off the charges since there was no evidence. I haven't...
