I went to the Fieldhouse to watch the Iowa game with my boyfriend. We got their way early and music was playing on their Touchtunes jukebox, so I thought I would play a couple of upbeat songs. I purchased the songs from their Touchtunes and a woman behind the bar whom seemed like the owner lifted up her remote and turned off both of my songs that I paid to have play. Very very rude!! I've never been anywhere with a jukebox that someone would change the songs purchased. Then I saw someone else line up some songs and the lady skipped over their songs too! What a rude person and sadly I think she's the owner too. My advice: Don't have a jukebox that links for your customers to play on it, if you don't want for your customers to use it. Very disappointing experience! I thought I liked this bar, but not anymore. Don't recommend!!
Oh and the owner's reply to my review makes this experience even worse. By her saying "thinking it was another of our regulars that always adds songs that I skip", implies that I was trying to play a bad song. However, I was trying to play upbeat songs for the game too, and many others in the bar were singing to the songs I was trying to play. So Still very very...
Read moreI went there for a company party tonight and was not impressed.
Our party ordered several platters of appetizers. They ranged from really good (onion rings - even though a bit burned they had a good taste) to bleh (fried raviolis - which were cold and had a texture of baby food and little flavor).
I had a bacon cheese burger and cole slaw. The cole slaw tasted okay, but left an oily residue in my mouth. I'm guessing they use a cheap cole slaw dressing. The burger was above average. It smelled like a freshly made burger, but looked and tasted like a frozen burger pattie. Whatever it was, it wasn't seasoned at all. The charbroiled smell, I believe, comes probably from added liquid smoke. It just didn't taste like a freshly made burger should and was incredibly dry.
The service was very, very slow. Everyone in our party had finished their food and drinks. The waitress asked if we wanted more and everyone said no. We thought she would automatically bring our checks. It took her at least a half hour to finally bring our checks around and that was after we made several attempts to flag her down. The place was busy, yes, but there seemed to be enough staff to...
Read moreDuring the midst of the 2020 Derecho the resource center that was created to help the community was a few doors down from the field house bar and grill. The resource center had to be moved just after a few weeks due to it being next to this business. The field house decided it was too big of a inconvenience and complained multiple times to the landlord. Instead of field house using this as a opportunity to grow it's business and support others when in need, they decided to go the other direction. After several complaints from field house the Iowa Derecho Resource center was forced to relocate to the old zimmerman ford building on 1st ave where they currently reside. What a shame and missed opportunity to serve drinks, food and potentially profit off all the volunteers coming to help that would have come in for a cold beer after long day volunteering. Fieldhouse food and service has always been mediocre at best. While many many local business stepped up to feed the city Field House sat back and complained about people getting the help they so desperately needed. I would not support this establishment...
