Disappointed in the recent changes to this park, it was nicer many years ago.

I'm sure a lot of planning went into the new all-inclusive playground, but it is missing many elements of a regular playground for regular kids. I don't know why they couldn't incorporate old-school equipment, with some more modern things. No monkey bars, or zipline, only 3 regular swings, no ladders to the slides, and the slides that are left are quite small.

It is nice that there is only one entrance/exit. But there's no water fountain!!

There are plenty of bathrooms (men, women, family), but the old snack/ice cream stand is completely boarded up. Many years ago, that was the best part of the park - a nice soft serve ice cream, while sitting on one of the...

This place is awesome! Such a wonderful place to visit and walk your dog. While visiting Marquette, I would come here daily and walk my dog.

The grass is lush and the water is relaxing, a perfect combination to help bring things into perspective. I really love this place and the restroom facilities are top notch, super clean and modern.

The morning was my favorite time to visit, as the sun is rising you will be feeling inspired and ready for the day ahead.

Marquette is a gorgeous place, this park is just one of many things that make me want to relocate to Marquette.

If you are ever in Marquette, definitely stop by this park for a stroll along the harbor shoreline. You will not regret it!

Ellwood A. Mattson Lower Harbor Park is a beautiful open space right on the shores of Lake Superior, perfect for a relaxing walk, picnic, or just soaking in the views. The park is clean, well-maintained, and has wide paths great for strollers, bikes, or a casual stroll. The highlight is the stunning lakefront backdrop, with the historic ore dock adding a unique touch to the skyline. There’s a nice playground for kids, open grassy areas for events or lounging, and benches scattered throughout to enjoy the scenery. It’s an easy walk from downtown Marquette, making it a great spot to unwind after exploring shops and restaurants. Whether you’re a local or a visitor, it’s one of the most scenic and peaceful...

This review is just for the new playground installed in 2024. It is a lot less fun than the previous wooden structure. The new surface installed ices over very easily and the playground features are spread out, so this playground is pretty unusable for a good part of the year unless you’re OK with your kids leaving bruised from falling. According to the signage at the park, there were a lot of people and lots of money involved. Unfortunately a lot of the investment seems quite short sighted. I question whether the people who designed the park even live here. I appreciate the intentions to make playgrounds more accessible but this one missed the plot.
