A Community Treasure with Heart and History Lake Superior Theatre is more than just a local playhouse – it’s a cornerstone of the Marquette community, blending top-notch entertainment with deep-rooted heritage and heart. Nestled along the scenic lower- harbor waterfront, this charming venue has captivated audiences for decades with its compelling shows and community-centered mission. The productions are consistently impressive, featuring a range of genres from beloved musicals to thought-provoking dramas and engaging family fare. The talent, often a mix of seasoned performers and emerging local stars, brings an authenticity and warmth to each show that larger venues can’t replicate. But, what truly sets Lake Superior Theatre & the Lake Superior Yacht Yard apart is its unique identity as a historic, family-run business. For over 100 years, the family behind the boathouse and theatre has been serving the Marquette community—not just through entertainment, but also through recreation, education, and generous fundraising efforts. This legacy infuses every corner of the theatre with a sense of purpose and pride. It's not just a business—it’s a lifelong labor of love that continues to give back. Beyond the stage, the theatre also offers a one-of-a-kind setting for weddings and special events. With its unique working-boathouse charm, lakeside backdrop, and intimate ambiance, it’s an unforgettable venue for couples looking for something meaningful and truly personal. It’s hard to imagine a more romantic or symbolic place to begin a new chapter in life. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, Lake Superior Theatre is a must-visit. Come for the show, stay for the community spirit, and leave with a deeper appreciation for the arts, history, and the power of community and a family’s vision to enrich a town for generations.

Saw Nunsense tonight. It was hilarious! I was laughing the whole show. They even include the audience in a few parts. Very professional and the performers we're all superbly talented. A truly fun show that shouldn't be missed. No photos of the show as photography is not permitted.

On the shores of Lake Superior -- waves just feet away from the boathouse -- wonderful dramatic, comedic, and musical performances are produced during the summer months. Blessed with a university and regional hospital, the Marquette area is able to capitalize on the rich and varied talents of its local population -- and nowhere is that advantage more evident than at the Lake Superior Theater. It's always a fun and enjoyable experience at the boathouse, home of the Lake Superior Theatre. Thank you to the Fraziers for giving a home to the theater at their boathouse -- and for all their hard work...

Small local theater with a beautiful location on Lake Superior. *Parking is NOT at the theater, only a few handicap spots are available down at the theater. Park over at the lower harbor park and walk the path over to the boat house. It’s an Easy walk, not very long.

The theater is small, but don’t let that fool you. The performances are top notch and well worth every penny for the experience! The actors, directors, choreographers, and staff are all fantastic and work so hard to bring you a great...
