Overall, for lunch, I enjoyed the restaurant. I ordered their lunch special Hameroo sandwich (ingredients in one of my photos here). I liked the sandwich and it was packed with flavor. The Donckers mac & cheese side wasn't bad, but I was hoping for an equally punchy flavor as the sandwich. Don't get me wrong; I enjoyed the m&c, but it wasn't the stand out I was expecting.

It was packed for the lunch time and, as a first timer, I was at a bit of a loss. There are menus near the door. When a register is free, you place your order and, if staying in, are given a numbered rock to sit on a table until your food is delivered. Seating was limited, but it was a busy time of day when I arrived. The staff were very nice and helpful despite the rush.

Downstairs (ground level) is a candy shop with a nice selection of fine looking chocolates. They're a bit expensive, but the coconut haystack I had was very tasty. It's kind of nice to get candy in the UP that isn't another generic fudge chain of stores, so I don't mind an upcharge if it's truly a small-batch shop.

I'd be interested to try some of their creative-sounding breakfast meals. I'd enjoy it more at a less busy time, I think, but I'm willing to give Donckers another try next time I'm in the area. If you want to try a unique sandwich and don't mind a bit higher cost, give them a shot!
