My friend and I visited early Saturday morning and had a short wait before being seated. Waited 15 min for our server to come over where she didn’t even acknowledge the wait or introduce herself. The coffee was terrible tasting which was disappointing since we expected to have some flavored. Overheard the table next to us complaining about their food to each other and they left with over 3/4ths of theirs plates left with food on it. The other table complained about waiting 50 min. It was busy but out of the 6 tables by us, there were only 3 of us seated and none of the waitresses seemed like they were rushing or in a hurry. After a 40 min wait, our food arrived. My eggs weren’t cooked at all and when I pointed this out to our waitress, she told me she’d speak with a a manger. The manager never even came by to apologize and the waitress never did either. She offered to comp $3 off a $12 meal and I accepted since I did not want to wait another 40 min for the food. Very disappointed and it seemed that many others that day were too. Would not return and would not recommend.

We ate breakfast here after staying the night in Marquette on the way to Munising. Very good food. Lots of great vegan options. I had the Abbey Road breakfast burrito, my husband had the Trailhead omelette and my daughter had a breakfast plate with eggs, bacon and hash browns. It was all freshly prepared and delicious! I wish we had tried the orange juice that is fresh squeezed because the ladies at the next table raved about it. This place is quaint and they use solar energy which I respect. We sat in the smaller back room and the windows were open so there was a nice breeze coming in. They sell chocolate truffles and other treats at the soda fountain downstairs- we got some tiramisu and caramel truffles and some of the sea salt caramels which were all very good!! Highly recommend this place for breakfast and a treat.

We decided to try out Donckers because the name was very distinctive. The shop has an early twentieth century feel, with the shop portion displaying items in every nook and cranny. An amazing array of candies and chocolates are on sale, and appear to be made onsite. We put our name on the list for seating upstairs and within about 10 minutes we were seated. Everyone was very friendly and nice. We ordered burgers and an order of mac and cheese. I had the firecracker burger, and it was a great combo of flavors. I personally did not feel like it was spicy, but then I also eat very spicy foods daily. My son had a bacon cheeseburger and pronounced it excellent. My other son was not a fan of the mac and cheese, which was a shame. The ambience, food and people here guaranteed that we'll be back!

I came here this morning for a business meeting as a first-time Donckers customer. What a great experience! This is a hometown favorite with a retro feel. Easy to find on Washington in downtown Marquette either by parking in front or in the rear. The street floor has a charming old-time soda fountain with lots of candies, perfect for the kids. The upper floor is designed as a retro-style diner with a 1950s feel. The food was excellent, as was the service. I met the owner Tom briefly, and he is a true class act. He has a firm handshake and a warm, welcoming smile. They have very neat loyalty program where you have a rock artfully designed with an assigned number, that you can use, at each visit. Overall a great place for friends, family, and food!

We enjoyed a delicious breakfast at Donckers. The servers were friendly and super attentive. The atmosphere was lively and fun. The breakfast/lunch counter is on the second floor, and there is a candy counter, ice cream, coffee counter, and gift shop on the first floor. There are plenty of vegetarian options. Our omelette and breakfast sandwich were perfectly cooked and full of yummy cheese and veggies. Breakfast came with a choice of lightly dressed greens or a half portion of hash browns. The only thing I did not like were the hash browns. They were pretty much standard foodservice fare and totally tasteless, so I would recommend the greens for the side choice.

Donckers us a 2 level facility. The lower level has a huge candy and chocolate counter and a small touristy store and a small eating area. The upper level has a kitchen area and a few dining areas. You order from the counter and they bring your food out to you. The food is primarily soup, sandwiches and mac & cheese. My son had a Reuben sandwich was nice, thick and tender. My wife a a cup of tomato soup, that had actual tomatoes in it. She also had a macaroni and cheeses made with real cheese and ham bits. I ordered a Turkey club sandwich on a panini type bread that was delicious and just the right amount of basil.
