This is a Local Historic Landmark, we were given RARE access for training. Hearing the History is amazing to know ! Old steam engines used to pull into the dome shaped, round building, with a huge tent like center, surrounded by side windows and glass leading to the center tip. The engines were turned around by hand by a few workers and were able to do this with little to no effort. The center, round area was balanced perfectly, the engine was turned around to point in the direction it came from and readied to leave. Very Old, I believe it still stands today in rather good condition, from the 1800's ! Read moreThe roundhouse is a beautiful historic building that deserves to be restored and made into a museum/cultural market. The farmer's market there is cute, but so much more could be done with the space, given the buildings very important place in local & early American history. The blacksmith room has all these artifacts just out on tables covered in goose poop, exposed to the elements. I would love to see archeological investigation & restoration of the Roundhouse and it's reuse as a cultural space & museum.
