Mother's Day Brunch is a special occasion. I looked for a unique place, one that would make great memories. Brix27 at 131 N Queen St., Martinsburg, WV was the answer. It was my wife Robyn and my first time to this fine restaurant. The atmosphere is casual chic. The building an old conversion done so well that it gives you new discoveries with every glance. The seating is perfect, tables are not jammed together, everyone has ample space to enjoy their experience. Drinks from the bar are impeccably done with a discriminating flare. The wine selection is impressive. Food is what we went to enjoy and the selection for brunch was conceptionally simple verging on wonderfully decadent. We began with a Strawberry Mimosa and a Bloody Mary. Then enjoyed Deviled Eggs with select greens and teardrop peppers which were this side of heaven on a plate. Robyn enjoyed the Roasted Red Pepper Soup that she couldn't get enough of amd the Baked French Toast with Berries, Real Maple Syrup (She knows as her brother in Maine makes his own. ) and a Fresh made Thick Whipped Cream to die for. I thoroughly enjoyed the Crab Cake Benedict, yes Crab Cake, with the best Home Fries I've had. While we were seated I noticed something that says everything about the food at Brix27. There is no salt, pepper or other condiments on the table. I mentioned this to Robyn and we agreed that it meant that they are so confident that their food is perfectly prepared and seasoned there is no need for addition. They are Correct. Unquestionably correct. For desert, we enjoyed a Tiramisu Parfait and locally roasted and supplied coffee. A perfect ending to a perfect brunch. The service at Brix27 is exemplary. Our server, Tonya was personable, professional, informative and provided one of the finest customer service experiences we've had in 35 years of dining together. Her conversant approach to our dining experience was perfect. In between answering our questions and taking our orders her conversion was enjoyable. It's rare to experience service that makes you feel like you're part of the family. With Tonya our brunch was made more enjoyable by her enthusiasm and sincere interaction with us. Never intrusive, always timely, with an impressive memory for detail our orders were relayed and executed to perfection. The team at Brix27 served our selections when ready so we enjoyed them fresh upon their completion. It was our first time here and since and since we have been looking for that special place to share, since two previous restaurants we loved succumbed to the pandemic, Brix27 will be seeing more of us in the future.

Peach Brandy, Peach bitters, lemon juice, simple syrup and topped with Brut. OMG! I am picky about cocktails........this is the best I've ever had. I'm guessing there is a Georgia connection here because this was a peach fest in my mouth. My entree choice was the Grilled Mexican Street Corn Salad with Chicken. It was full of fresh field greens, char grilled corn, pickled red onions, parmesan, salsa verde crema and grilled chicken strips. Delicious! A perfect summer salad. Now, let me get to the best part. Brix 27 already pairs their flights for your enjoyment. This was Spanish reds which included Volver Tempranillo, Bujanda Rioja, and berola Red Blend. The blend was a bit strong, but the other two were great. Tenderloin Tips 'Stroganoff Style.' These beef tips were flambeed in cognac and came mixed with cremini mushrooms, rigatoni pasta and a local chevre goat cheese from Sheperd's Whey Creamery. This was fantastic. So fantastic that we couldn't stop oohing and awing over the dish and requested our waiter tell the chef how incredible it was. This prompted the chef to join us and explain how the short rib is slow cooked and how he uses the local goat cheese to round out the flavor. It's been a week and we're still talking about this entree. We had to try dessert because where else can you find a S'mores Cast Iron Cookie? A chocolate chip cookie, graham, marshmallow, Dutch chocolate and vanilla ice cream? Yes, please! All of this meal would not have been made possible without the exceptional service by Ryan. He was "that guy." Confident, funny, accommodating, knowledgeable (he even educated us on what Brix 27 means - worth a Google), and kind with a razzle dazzle smile. Ten stars from start to finish (which ended with a trip to the wine store next door to purchase the wines from...
Read moreAnother phenomenal dining experience at Brix27! Makayla's (I apologize for any misspelling) attentiveness, personable manner, and recommendations made this experience one for the books! I have dined at Brix 27 countless times over the past 6 years, and have raved about the staff, ambiance and the food to everyone who asks me where to go for an amazing and satisfying dining experience in Martinsburg, WV.
Among other culinary favs, the smoked caesar salad, truffle fries and red wine selection are definitely my vices. However, tonight I decided to try the filet mignon.
My imagination could not touch the reality of the flavor and tenderness of the filet mignon! Cooked to perfection, with what appeared to be lightly sprinkled kosher salt, the filet melted in my mouth - every bite literally demanded that I have one more bite! I have had filet mignon at other "chain" fine dining restaurants; however, NONE have been as tender, flavorful and juicy as the filet mignon I had tonight! The mashed potato puree that accompanied the filet was also perfection - silky smooth and lightly salted so that the potato flavor shined through.
I opted for a light ale to accompany dinner, Cougar Bait. Excellent choice as it did not overpower the amazing meal!
To wrap this dining experience, I opted for the housemade New York cheesecake. New York Cheesecake is my absolute favorite! This is a dessert that can go right or wrong because getting the "NY cheesecake texture and flavor" right can be tricky. Brix 27 has it! This cheesecake, served with real whipped cream, is it! Kudos Brix 27, Makayla and all of the wonderful staff! Until...
