Glazed Empire Bakery — Restaurant in Martinsburg

I’m sorry to say, but the reviews of this bakery do not match what you get. We went at 8:30 on a Saturday. There were no donuts ready or croissants etc. The shop didn’t even smell Like they were baking, although it said everything was baked fresh. The lady helping us was very friendly and kind and assured us the donuts were just being frosted, so we waited. We bought one dozen. And two “chocolate croissants”. They were the smallest croissants I have ever seen and they were simply drizzled with Hershey syrup. You could not get a “glazed donut”. Ok. We ordered a Peanut donut. That had peanut frosting with almonds on it. The chocolate glazed were once again simply drizzled with Hershey’s syrup. The coconut was held on by some sort of sad lemon gel. Glazed Empire is now my favorite go to place for pastries! The moment we stepped inside we were met by the owner & she was absolutely the most welcoming person! Our son had been asking for donuts and we wanted to find a local bakery instead of something like dunkin. Our experience was as personal as it comes, Rashida (not sure if I spelled her name right) gave us a few recommendations like the cheesecake and omg I’m not a huge cheesecake fan but WOW it was amazing! She was so sweet to my son who started eating his donut even before we paid 😂. The conversation and customer service was on point! Omg I legit just had the best donut of my LIFE. Idk what wizardry is at work but there is no better donut than this. If I could make donuts this good I'd never leave the house and weigh 600 lbs. The ladies there are DELIGHTFUL and totally bought my bs story of only coming in for donuts bc my parrot said he wanted donuts. He said no such thing. He loves donuts but no. It's me. I wanted donuts. They knew but didn't break the delusion so that's worth 5 stars alone. But these donuts. My god. Get one.
