The Trilogy excursion to Lāna’i, led by Captain Turtle, was an unforgettable experience and the highlight of our vacation on Maui! Everything about this trip exceeded our expectations!
This trip is a MUST for anyone visiting Maui. Captain Turtle, Kat, Chad, Justin, Parker, and Marcela went above and beyond in every possible way and made this special day truly remarkable!
We took the early morning option, arriving at the Mā’alaea harbor at 6:00am for departure at 6:30am. The captain and crew were extremely friendly and welcomed us aboard like lifelong friends. The catamaran itself was stunning; lots of upper deck space and cushioned seating areas, with a bar below in the spacious cabin area. All bags, towels and items are stored in this cabin and kept safe and secure. The catamaran was immaculately clean, and featured two large bathrooms below deck with a few complimentary amenities offered for guests, This vessel had it all!
We took our seats upfront for the best views as we made our way across to Lāna’i, and were spoiled with soft, freshly baked orange cinnamon rolls served with fresh pineapple and orange slices, coffee, tea, and breakfast juices. The crew were so attentive and took great care of us. Shortly after we were served delicious bacon, egg and cheese croissants and more drinks, just before arriving at Lāna’i.
As we approached the island we were treated to a show from a large pod of Hawaii spinner dolphins that were jumping out of the water all around the catamaran, which was amazing to see. We hung out with these dolphins for about fifteen minutes before docking at the island. We disembarked the catamaran and were taken to Trilogy’s end of a stunning secluded island beach shared only with The Four Seasons Lāna’i. This white sandy beach lined with palm trees featured picnic tables, an outdoor shower, clean and spacious restrooms and the most amazing tropical foliage in the pacific.
Captain Turtle gave us a short, informative, and very entertaining discussion on the correct use of snorkeling equipment and a brief history of the area we were visiting. The next two hours were spent snorkeling above the thousands of tropical fish and beautiful coral in the crystal clear blue waters of Hulopo’e bay, a protected marine life conservation district. We saw a few dozen different species of fish, and even swam with two eagle rays as they peacefully glided below us. Amazing!
Captain Turtle and the crew then served us a delicious BBQ in the tropical gardens of Manale harbor. Grilled chicken and noodles, served with a fresh side salad and soft Hawaiian roll. We boarded the catamaran ready for our return journey to Mā’alaea. It was a super fun journey back with cocktails being served, followed by a generous cup full of vanilla ice cream topped with chocolate syrup! The wind picked up a little on the way back into Lāna’i, but that just made the trip more adventurous with an occasional and very light refreshing ocean mist!
I can’t thank Captain Turtle, Kat, Chad, Justin, Parker, and Marcela enough for the experience they provide. Every single member of this crew remembered every guest’s name without exception, regularly checked in on us and provided us with everything we could ask for and more, took professional quality photographs on the catamaran and in the water (which we later purchased) and made us feel like VIPs the entire day. Thank you...
Read moreWe've come to Maui the past 8 years. The first 2-3 times we visited, we sailed with various companies, UNTIL we sailed with Trilogy. Top notch, professional and so MUCH FUN!!We always do a sunset sail or a whale watch with trilogy, but then add in a different excursion each time we come. This time it was the Molokini Crater/ turtle town snorkle/SNUBA excursion. Of course, did not disappoint. As always, the breakfast and lunch were scrumptious. Drinks in the afternoon free flowing if desired. The crew members were each fantastic for different reasons. Nick the captain very friendly and although not an official whale watch, he made a few diversions on the way back so we could watch a mother and calf. This baby whale was having the time of his life, as were we! He breeched repetitively. Shamus the SNUBA instructor was awesome. Unfortunately, due to some health issues, I was unable to go, but with encouragement from Shamus, my wife decide to still try it. She LOVED it, and was so grateful for his easy going attitude and reassurances. Its a great way to "explore" truly being submerged underwater, without investing in scuba training, until you know you like it. Madison was always educating us on the whales, and had an easy smile. She really seemed to enjoy herself. I didn't interact with Clay much, but people seemed to really enjoy talking with him. Ernie the photographer was also friendly, and never pressured anyone to buy pictures (although we did ). There was no hard pressure selling and he interacted with everyone whether they purchased pictures or not. I can't stress enough if your going to go out with a company -TRILOGY is the best!---Looking forward to our whale watch later in the week.:) And No I wasn't paid to write this, its just an honest review from someone wanting you to have a great...
Read moreTrilogy Excursions is amazing! We took the cruise to Lanai to spend the day snorkeling and relaxing on one of the most beautiful beaches in world. All I can say is this is a must do experience that ended up being the highlight of our vacation to Maui. This is not a tourist trap but rather quite the opposite, a truly special experience. The Captain (Nick)and the crew (Jenna, Catherine, and Ze) of the boat are fun and accommodating people making all who step aboard feel like you’re in for a great time from the get go. The food served on board as well as on the island was way above what I expected in quality and was absolutely delicious! This includes the drinks served on the return voyage. While at the island snorkeling the captain and crew watch over everyone’s safety and go to great lengths to ensure everyone is having a great time. To the extent that my wife who is terrified of fish got in and experienced for her first time snorkeling from the confidence building help of Catherine staying close to her with a paddle board the whole time, while Ze watched over everyone from another paddle board a short distance out to sea. We got to see coral and tropical fish from eight feet to at times thirty feet of water. It was really spectacular. To finish the day off while still a couple miles out returning to Maui Nick and the crew set the sails and we sailed back to harbor on the wind! Thats an experience all on it’s own. Overall this is your hard earned money well spent. Trilogy Excursions, our captain and crew over delivered, going far beyond what they advertised. So I’ll end this review with 5 stars and highly...
