Nov 19/24. We were very excited to visit this museum while being in Medora, ND. Website hours claimed this place was open from 9-5 Tues through Sun. We planned a day in Medora with the Cowboy Hall of Fame as our first stop but to our surprise the museum wasn’t open!!! The hours posted on the door even said Tuesday open 9-5. We waited around for another hour thinking with the time change maybe they’d be open at 10? I even tried calling several times to check and no answer at ANY of the extensions. We then toured the TRNP and did the scenic drive and came back after lunch at 1:00 and the museum was STILL CLOSED!!!! We spent 1/2 the day waiting around for this place to open like it said it would be. What a joke!! Very poor communication and management. I am very disappointed that they couldn’t even post correct operating times for travellers at the very least!! What a waste...
Read moreI was in Medora as I toured Theodore Roosevelt National Park and stayed in Medora while there. The ND Cowboy Hall of Fame is on the edge of town near the Sout entrance to the park.
It is a small museum, only 2 floors. Upon entering it seems like a place out of time and, in reality there are parts of it or some of the exhibits that are outdated. But looking beyond this, the ND Cowboy Hall of Fame is a jewel of Western culture and times. It is filled with items from rodeos and its stars, with western gear and how it was used, e.g. Pony Express mailbag, and artifacts from the early settlers to the Plains or ND.
There is a small gift shop and also an outside patio that might be a neat place to have a snack and rest awhile while taking in the views and history.
Definitely worth a few hours of a...
Read moreA great little museum, and one of the better things to do and see in Medora. The museum does have an entry fee, but the information and displays inside are worth the cost if you enjoy cowboy and western history. They have a good selection of beautiful cowboy and Native American pieces with excellent information on each, as well as a great authentic rifle display. The museum part is downstairs, and the HOF is upstairs. The staff is very friendly, and there is a little gift shop in the lobby. They also have nice bathrooms as well as water fountains, although they don't allow water bottles inside the exhibits. Give the...
